So I was reading the news about the "new" RE 7...and apparently it's just the gamecube version of the game but remastered, not bad news at all (little sad still no new old RE :( )

They added wide-screen res support and a new kind of control for those who dont like tank control.

Yes but will it be "real" HD I wonder, REmake for GC had static prerendered backgrounds so if Capcom don't have the original source-art to re-render them at higher resolution then it will just be upscaling.

yes it will be the same game but with hd textures and some minor changes but the video pretty much makes that very clear, no big changes.

Well, at least this one is "new" because it was a Nintendo exclusive, so if you didn't play it on GameCube, it's "new".

A Remake that was exclusive to nintendo gamecube. Now you probably have a chance to play it. Ditto I don't care if its upscaled or done right, so long as I get to play this on Modern Hardware. My Wii won't last forever.

I tend to think games are suited to exact 'shot for shot' remakes in a way that movies aren't.

If the original versions of RE & RE2 come to GOG I would buy them immediately even though I've played both repeatedly on Playstation. The DC and GC version of RE were never quite as good and I played both of through several times each as well, so the remake I most want to see is actually the original game, nothing changed in terms of camera angles, locations, enemies, items etc. just contemporary graphics and animations.

Ah Resident Evil, the series I would love to love but don't.

I loved RE2 played it down to hell back in the Win98 days, would certainly buy it again on GOG.

So what? The original Resident Evil was released on many, many platforms and I also have played the remake and I still prefer the original if only for the awesome cheese factor. Seriously though, if this is the Resident Evil that Capcom is developing instead of 7, then excuse me while I laugh my ass off.
