Goodbyes are not forever (and war never changes).

It's not the first time we give this advice, but remember to take your Rad-X pills, try not to mistake a G.E.C.K for a gecko (not even remotely the same thing!), and take good care of yourself out there in the wasteland: Fallout, the premiere post nuclear role playing game franchise, is back.
The Fallout games have been with us on day one, and they played an inseparable part in defining the early GOG.com catalog. When they got swept away by radioactive winds, a gaping hole the size of California was left behind that we haven't quite been able to fill... until now!

Once again, you can pick up all three RPG classics at 66% off in a single post-apo bundle that includes:
--Fallout
--Fallout 2
--Fallout Tactics

We're welcoming Bethesda Softworks to GOG.com with more bundles, and tons of new classic releases - all DRM-free of course - and don't forget that two The Elder Scrolls classics (The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall) will drop like a bomb straight into your library, completely FREE with any Bethesda purchase. The bundle promos end on Wednesday, September 2, 12:59 PM GMT.

Stream watch:

Ixamyakxim: [...] I know it's probably much hated here for the unfortunate branding choice but the Dark Alliance games were very good.

vulchor: I never played the second game because of how incredibly disappointed I was with the first one. I was so excited when it was released, and I bought it immediately. About 6 hours later, I finished what I thought was the end of Act 1. I had enjoyed the game up to that point, even if the RPG mechanics were so stripped down that they were just superficial. No, that wasn't the end of Act 1. That was the end of the entire game. I couldn't fucking believe it. I sold it immediately at a 70% loss and never looked back.
What, did you do a speedrun on easy difficulty on your first playthrough? I put scores of hours (probably more than 100) into various playthroughs of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance over the years, and I doubt I could make it through in six hours unless I ran past most of the monsters & enemies and skipped all non-essential quests (not that I recall there being many). And even if I DID speed past a lot of the combat and other sources of XP, I'd probably wind up beating my head against a brick wall when fighting a boss that I was severely underleveled for. So, hat's off (I guess) if you actually beat the game in 6 hours. Me, I'm an explorer, and I was kept busy by that game for quite a while. =)
A pity that the sequel was so much harder to find in stores. =(
Three days passed... still no information if the bonus content will be added? : /

Shoot.

F4LL0UT: I don't think that gunning down Bethesda employees will get us those goodies. Oh, wait, I think I may have misread your post.
On the contrary, gunning down all Bethesda employees leaves no rights-holder available, so GOG can easily claim all rights and offer the games here.

Or... wait, are you saying this isn't the wild west of game rights?

Why the games appear as "not owned"??? I already own the three of them, I also get this issue with Pillars of Eternity and The Witcher 3

For various reasons, said games come with multiple game ids, some of which you own, some of which you don't. With PoE it's most likely the kickstarter edition, with The Witcher 3 it's most likely the pre-order edition, and with Fallouts it is to differentiate between the Interplay published one and the Bethesda published one. Feel free to ignore it, the Fallouts are the same, no matter which one you have. The Interplay ones include a few more things as well.

Thanks! all makes sense, but I hope GOG will fix this, soon or later. It is not like a prioritary thing, but is a thing :)

ln2233: I already own the games because I got them free years ago but now I have to rebuy them. Why?

stryx: GOG treats the old old Fallout games from the Interplay era and the new old Fallout games from the Bethesda era as seperate games.

But you still have the old Interplay games in your library, so there is no need to buy the new Bethesda games now, as they are identical in terms of content.
Except for the nterplay logos in the videos?

Cool! I'll keep those then! :D

ps: nothing is censored then?

Nope, both Interplay's and Bethesda's versions are still censored. You'll need the patch for both of them.

Maybe I exaggerated a little with 6 hours, could have been as long as 9 or 10 hours, but still way too short for a game. No, I did everything that was available, was fullly leveled, played through on hard difficulty, unlocked everything that I can remember (like the bonus gauntlet with Drizzt). It was over a decade ago, but I don't remember finding the combat difficult at all, don't remember dying much if at all. I was so underwhelmed that I didn't care to play through the Extreme mode that I had unlocked.

Maybe it impressed a lot of people by being what it was on a console, but it was so very uninteractive. The story wasn't bad, what little there was. I hear the GameBoy Advance version is surprisingly far better, allowing you to actually interact with far more NPCs and actual sidequests.

Care to direct me somewhere? Pretty please? :)
And is it just about being able to kill kids?

As far as I know, there are no kids in the censored version, thus, you can't kill them. You can try this patch to bring them back.

Afaik the kids are still in the game but invisible which makes you kill them without noticing (and getting the "child killer" brand) and they are able to steal from you without you getting the chance to take your money back.

The German versions of F1+2 have all gore removed in addition to the child thing and there's another decensoring patch for those too.

To make invisible children visible, right?

And what about Fallout 2?

And unfortunately it seems I can't download the patch.

Oh, here's a working one: http://www.moddb.com/games/fallout/downloads/fallout-1-child-patch

Downloads normally for me. What seems to be the problem?

I'm not sure about Fallout 2 (can't find anything readily available right now).

I think the first link required to create an account... I didn't research any further. :P

So the patch just puts the children sprites in the game, right?
