It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

With the redesign of the site last month, two filter categories (Release and Company) were removed from the interface, the System filter was "streamlined", and list view was removed (in addition to a number of more superficial changes, including the renaming of a couple of sorting options). It was discovered some time ago that some of the old filters still worked; there's simply no longer any UI element for enabling them (although an option for disabling them appears once they're enabled by the following URL edits, which is galling).

Adding the flags (I'm sure someone will correct me with the proper term ;P ) laid out below to the end of the URL (the text in your browser's address bar; this means that there's probably no way to do this in Galaxy) will allow you to narrow your search to games of a certain age, or games that target a specific OS version, just like you could before -- but now with a considerably degraded user experience! Hooray!

In case it's not obvious: all text enclosed in [brackets] below is explanatory text, and should not be inserted into the URL (and the same goes for any spaces preceding the bracketed text--but underscores ARE part of the URL flag). I also bolded the bits that should/can be inserted, just for extra clarity.

----------------

[Specific OS]
[start with...]
&system=
[...and add one or more of the following immediately after, separating with commas if using multiple:]
windows_xp,windows_vista,windows_7,windows_8,windows_10 [all self-explanatory],
osx_106 [macOS 10.6+],osx_107 [macOS 10.7+],
lin_ubuntu [Ubuntu Linux 14.04],lin_mint [Ubuntu Linux 16.04],lin_ubuntu_18 [Ubuntu Linux 18.04]

[Release year category]
[start with...]
&release=
[...and add one or more of the following immediately after, separating with commas if using multiple:]
p2000 [pre-2000],2000_2004,2005_2009,2010_2014, [these should be self-explanatory],a2015 [after 2015]

----------------

I didn't bother to even try going through and documenting any of the Company filters (because there are hundreds of them, and I'm not insane); it was always easier to just plug the company name into the search bar anyway (or go to a game page and click the developer or publisher name from there, if you want a properly filtered list).
I did try to find a couple other language filters, but had no luck. (I could swear that there used to be more than just twenty languages listed in that category, but if there was, it must've been at least a couple years ago.)

I have to give credit to InkPanther, who first documented the release categories, and inspired me to poke around in archived versions of the catalogue search page myself.

Very useful. Thanks.
This should be available in Community Stickies.
Thanks. Tthere are also much more genre filters available than shown on the search filter:
action adventure arcade building chess combat comedy detective-mystery economic educational espionage exploration fantasy fighting fpp (first person perspective) hidden object historical horror jrpg (japanese role playing game) managerial metroidvania modern mystery narrative naval off-road open world pinball platformer point-and-click puzzle racing rally real-time roguelike role-playing sandbox sci-fi shooter simulation soccer sports stealth strategy survival tactical team sport touring tpp (third person perspective) turn-based virtual life visual novel

For example search for third person games:

Thank you InkPanther and HunchBluntley
2002_2004 doesn't appear to work? Can anyone else confirm?

EDIT: Oh it's suppose to be 2000_2004.

BKGaming: 2002_2004 doesn't appear to work? Can anyone else confirm?

EDIT: Oh it's suppose to be 2000_2004.
Whoops...
That's really weird, as I could have sworn I initially got those by copy-pasting from the URL of the Web Archive version of the page with the filters enabled, but it's "2000_2004" there, too (as well as in InkPanther's post). I must have manually transcribed them and made the error then.
Anyway, it's fixed in the OP now. Thanks for mentioning it.
"Major sale" bump.
Looks like this could stand to be bumped again.
Seems like it does not wok anymore :-( Anything before 2000 returns some indie crap or Cyberpunk 2077...

works for me

try
https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=date&release=p2000
no cyberpunk 2077 :)

:(
Now is there a parameter to filter $0.01 to $9.99 price range as well? Then you could filter older games on sale.
Here it is.

A majority of these titles show they ran on Windows XP.

This is quite an extensive list. There might be more post 2015 hidden gems.

But a good starting point in weeding out the titles one at a time to see if they truly have Windows XP support listed.

https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&release=p2000,2000_2004,2005_2009,2010_2014&sort=release_desc

48 titles per page x 30-31 = 1,440+ to filter down.

Some are not titles but add-ons.

Sorted from newest to oldest should make it easier to pin down.

Spring Sale bump.
Thank you for this workaround. This change is indeed worrying, I come to GOG in 99% cases for the games that came out before 2000 or so, which is what the site was supposed to be for in the first place. I completely understand the desire to earn more money, but I don't want that to be at my expense, and not at the cost of REMOVING USEFUL FUNCTIONALITY FOR NO GOOD REASON!
It's ridiculous that I still can't just have proper search order and filtering to find old games on GOOD OLD GAMES. It's like they're trying to hide them.
