With the redesign of the site last month, two filter categories (Release and Company) were removed from the interface, the System filter was "streamlined", and list view was removed (in addition to a number of more superficial changes, including the renaming of a couple of sorting options). It was discovered some time ago that some of the old filters still worked; there's simply no longer any UI element for enabling them (although an option for disabling them appears once they're enabled by the following URL edits, which is galling).
Adding the flags (I'm sure someone will correct me with the proper term ;P ) laid out below to the end of the URL (the text in your browser's address bar; this means that there's probably no way to do this in Galaxy) will allow you to narrow your search to games of a certain age, or games that target a specific OS version, just like you could before -- but now with a considerably degraded user experience! Hooray!
In case it's not obvious: all text enclosed in [brackets] below is explanatory text, and should not be inserted into the URL (and the same goes for any spaces preceding the bracketed text--but underscores ARE part of the URL flag). I also bolded the bits that should/can be inserted, just for extra clarity.
----------------
[Specific OS]
[start with...]
&system=
[...and add one or more of the following immediately after, separating with commas if using multiple:]
windows_xp,windows_vista,windows_7,windows_8,windows_10 [all self-explanatory],
osx_106 [macOS 10.6+],osx_107 [macOS 10.7+],
lin_ubuntu [Ubuntu Linux 14.04],lin_mint [Ubuntu Linux 16.04],lin_ubuntu_18 [Ubuntu Linux 18.04]
[Release year category]
[start with...]
&release=
[...and add one or more of the following immediately after, separating with commas if using multiple:]
p2000 [pre-2000],2000_2004,2005_2009,2010_2014, [these should be self-explanatory],a2015 [after 2015]
----------------
I didn't bother to even try going through and documenting any of the Company filters (because there are hundreds of them, and I'm not insane); it was always easier to just plug the company name into the search bar anyway (or go to a game page and click the developer or publisher name from there, if you want a properly filtered list).
I did try to find a couple other language filters, but had no luck. (I could swear that there used to be more than just twenty languages listed in that category, but if there was, it must've been at least a couple years ago.)
I have to give credit to InkPanther, who first documented the release categories, and inspired me to poke around in archived versions of the catalogue search page myself.
