We all love the freedom of choice and accessibility that come with DRM-free games, and we also enjoy titles that are meant to be played online. One of them is an iconic multiplayer game from Bethesda – Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory which is now available for FREE on GOG with our dedicated servers!

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is an online-only game - you play by connecting to a server which you or someone else runs. You can also play alone (vs. bots) by hosting your own game, or by setting up a local area network (LAN). This game was built to enjoy with others however, and so we've set our own GOG servers to play with y'all.

It's a true 2003 vanilla experience that you just gotta try and hunt down those pesky soldiers with “GOG” tag in their usernames. We’ve heard there will be plenty of those guys there!

In order to do so, all you have to do is get the game on GOG and join one of our servers. Here’s some details about them:

EU Server IP: 51.89.94.120:27960
NA Server IP: 192.169.92.211:27960
Game Type: Campaign
Maximum Players: 16 (8v8)
Mods: None
Friendly Fire: Yes
Punkbuster: No
Anti-Lag: Yes
Max Lives: Off
Weapon Restriction: Off
Moderation: Not this time baby

Our servers are up live now and will be until November 18th, 7 AM UTC. All you need to join is the IP. See you on the battlefield!

Alongside that, we’ve also launched a special Bethesda Halloween Sale. Check out amazing titles like Dishonored 2, The Evil Within 2, Prey, Doom Series and more with discounts up to 85%! Sale lasts until November 1st, 10 PM UTC.

To read more about how we want to approach online-only games on GOG and to share how you feel about it, check out our latest GOG 2022 UPDATE.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a multiplayer-only game that supports both: online and local play.
The game card appears to have been changed. Now this could have been a win for GOG if they'd properly looked into it and labeled in the first place (and changed their tone in the companion article... though that article is more about preparing people for more Gwent-likes coming in the future than explaining this title).

You're making a big deal out of nothing. Truly.

I am truly sorry that you appear to give no fecal matter about consumer rights or the DRM-status of things [which makes one wonder why you're even here]. It absolutely important. Since resolved. Only going to be worse next time as GOG continues to say, "Hey, we don't mind taking dumps on you. Some people like it. We're working up to take even bigger ones later!"

This one turned out not to be one. But it was just a softener to their intended future.

Awesome to see a free game become free and stay free, free
I read about Bethesda bringing this back with dedicated servers and the default 6 maps with the default 2 rotations of 3 maps 1 or 2 weeks ago. Apparently the game received some renewed interest from gamers during the covid lockdowns.
Based on the stuff I read I did check some links but never got to firing it up. There's even an open source client for it: ET Legacy

About 15 years ago I played this a lot. It was the 1st multiplayer game I ever played. Unfortunately at some point the sheer amount of cheaters spoiled the fun.

There's 1 absolute must for this client: ET minimizer
It allows you to alt tab, play windowed, etc.

I understand your concern with GOG after the shady Hitman deal. But they did say online-only games are designed to be played with others. No SP online only games. But this is why we need people like you. IMO. So if that happens, we can call them out on it.

Andrewsk1: Can't connect to the NA server
According to another user's claim It did not work for him either. But the EU server did.

They already use that "designed to be played" platitude elsewhere.

"Hitman was designed to be played online." Doesn't matter, it's still DRM.

"Gwent was designed to be played online." Doesn't matter, it's still DRM. And such a game can -- and has -- been done without DRM.

"Cyberpunk 2077 was designed to 'reward' players for using Galaxy." Doesn't matter, it's still DRM. Add it as a library item/DLC so it can be used properly offline, without DRM activation mechanisms.

I'm calling them on it NOW. GOG has plenty of titles already with DRM. Even for single player.

"Overwatch was designed to be a massively multiplayer online-only experience."
Do you see the failing of your attempt yet? Grow a conscience.

This is only here to soften the future blow for more and more egregious titles, some of which CDP are developing themselves.

Nice job at missing what I said to rant on about your own GOG theory.

So, you’re telling us that multiplayer-only games can indeed be DRM-free?
Shocking!
No Linux version?
Why the hell is this blocked for Germans again? >_> this makes absolutely no sense. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory was never banned in Germany and never contained any symbols that german Authorities hate so much. What kind of stupid anti-german decision is this again?
