Revolutionary tactics.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg, an effortlessly simple and unbelievably tactical simulator, is available now for Windows (with Mac OS X and Linux versions coming soon), DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg is what you'd get if you took deep, complex, intelligent AI and systems - and wrapped them in a simple, user-friendly package. It's the perfect balance between historical authenticity and open-ended tactics, it's accessible but infinitely capable. There are no AI difficulty cheats here, each opponent is modeled to work within a certain set of rules and every advantage it can ever get - you can too. The same brilliant AI design allows you to focus on the grand tactical scheme of things without having to babysit and micromanage your units. Ultimate General: Gettysburg is a Civil War enthusiast's dream, with a detailed, historically accurate map of Gettysburg that's yours to utilise (and learn about). It's also a game that isn't held back by an unrelenting drive to become a bloated battle simulator.

Participate in the ultimate Civil War reenactment in Ultimate General: Gettysburg, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, June 4, at 9:59 AM GMT.
Never heard of it, but it looks interesting
OMG THANK YOU... this is made by Darth who created the Darthmod series for Total War. Can't believe this finally came here. xD
Looks like a nice release alright (I like games with a historical theme!) however this element from the system requirements section puzzles me:

Additional Notes: 2gb memory is needed for 32-bit operating system, 4gb memory for 64-bit windows
Why would I need double the RAM to run the exact same game if I have a 64-bit pc? That seems definitely weird to me...

One of the game I bought when it was still Early Access. Great ot see it on GOG :)
Not for me, but probably interesting for the history buffs.
I like the look of it though, probably the first of its kind that didn't make me sick when looking at the screenshots.

I'd imagine it's because 64-bit Windows uses a larger RAM footprint than 32-bit, therefor the game needs more.

Yeah, that might be the case. I only got a 64-bit pc with a higher RAM recently and I'm still learning the ropes regarding the differences between the 2 systems. That new pc has 4GBs of RAM on paper but says 3.74 are free right now, so I'm not certain if I'll be able to run the game fine or not when I get it (and that's why I posted this in the 1st place)...But still, most other games don't mention something like that in their requirements...Oh well, I guess then I'll just wishlist it for now and buy on a steep discount later...
A very good surprise !
I've wanted to try this game for quite a while, so this release is totally up my alley. =D

You meet the RAM requirements then, so yea as long as you meet the others you should be fine.

Same here. Was keeping my fingers crossed that it would end up here (the game was in early access for quite some time). GOG, ya just gave me my weekend gaming trip. Thanks!
This reminds me of two things; one is Sid Meier's Gettysburg, which had a very similar look to this, and the other is how much I wish North & South was available here.

It shouldn't disappoint, his Darthmod series for Total War made those games so much better... I expect good things from this game honestly.

i searched for vids on youtube cause the game looked intresting

but if the game plays this fast like in this vid: (look at the player dragging a moving that screen so fast... wow

youtube.com/watch?v=4bUDJaUpEQM

then it will not be playable for me (motionsickness) i watched the vid 6 seconds and wow, what a motion, thats nothing for me, my feet started to feel wobbly.

i also checked out the subject 13 vids on youtube , and the game looks nice but there quite some videoeffects and flashing, so thats wont be good for my photosensitivity (its hard when having to make sure games dont have to much motionsickness/photosensitivity, cause these games are my kind of games but getting motionsick is not fun)

Anyways, its better the way it is cause if the game was suitable for me i be playing with minimum specs (minimum performance) cause look at the rec. specs:

Recommended system requirements - Windows: Windows 8, Processor: Intel i7 3 Ghz, Memory: 4 GB RAM, Graphics: 3D Graphic card 2 GB like GeForce GTX 560 or higher, DirectX 11, Mouse, Keyboard.

and its not fun playing games at minimum specs.

so i have to skip these games.

Dragon wars looks nice, and will run great on my poor system , too bad the pixels are so big
so i will sit this one out aswell , give my wallet a rest.
