Big in Japan.

Throne of Darkness, a fast-paced ARPG where you slaughter hordes of exotic demons with your well-trained samurai, is now available DRM-free, exclusively on GOG.com.

Combine powerful warlords with demonic influence and trouble will soon follow. When the most prominent shogun surrenders to darkness, only a handful of heroic samurai is left standing against the evil that now threatens to engulf the land of Yamato. Seven distinct classes, tons of neat loot, and massive demonic armies that can't wait to meet your mouse pointer make this a real treasure for lovers of Diablo-style gameplay.
Oh wow! Totally unexpected... what a nice surprise!

Kudos Gog.com team!!!
Excellent release! One of the few remaining titles that I have been waiting for. A huge thank you to everyone involved!
Thank you! I love you! Really, i do

op2017si: Does this game support window mode?

Grargar: Please Note: Throne of Darkness only supports multiplayer connectivity over LAN or direct connection. Throne of Darkness also does not have a windowed mode and supports fullscreen only.
Oh, thank you Grargar! I didn't see that sentence.
That was one of the best games from my childhood . Didn't expect to see this game on here :) Instabuy . Then I compared with my original disks . And everything seems same + patched to the latest version . 10/10 release .

vicklemos: Why always 7, eh? Why not... EIGHT?! ;)
avatar
Luned: Edit: I'm wrong, it's four that's bad.

Eight is a very unlucky number in much of Asia. Like 13 or 666 in western countries.
If that's so, why are the Chinese mirrors to fend off evil always octagonal?
Ah, yes, "much", missed that one...
Interesting release.
I'd also like to see ShadowFlare 1-4 here, by Emurasoft, of which the first episode was also released in 2001, just like this game.
Though a bit tedious with enemies having massive health bars, I still liked to play it for a while.

Vissavald: And it looks really ridiculous when it's written in SysReq section on game page: Windows 7 minimum, and DirectX 7 videocard :D

But no, no way, brave GOG staff can't give a guarantee that this game from 2001 would run on your system in 2017, of course... Don't blame'em, they are just humble slaves of someone big's ill will.

I agree. I still have one Windows XP in my house, and I plan on throwing another install on a mini computer I recently received.
low rated
If i would still buy games from GOG i might have grabbed Throne of Darkness on sale.

But i'll just install my german version and look for an uncensor patch. :D

Dead, unsupported, security risk operating system is dead. If you go online with XP these days, you deserve the horrible things that will eventually happen to your system.

No need to go online with offline installers. My XP is strictly for old games that act up on WINE and that's not uncommon. Hopefully someone will test it on WINE and XP, because I don't have any of the supported OSes but the one the game was originally made for, which should be supported by default.

Brilliant game! Well done GOG!
Just really excited… I missed playing this game. I never really got it when I was younger but I loved playing it and I really wished my play disc hadn't disappeared.
Been waiting for this game for many years. I have the disc, yet I very much wanted a fresh and updated copy, DRM-free. Thank you so much, GOG!

Aside from Wizardry 1-5, Fallouts and Elder Scrolls (maybe Diablo?), my wishlist of wanted RPG's is getting thinner and thinner :(

Can anyone think of notable RPG's, other than those mentioned here, that aren't here yet? Whether they're classic or indie and/or modern doesn't matter to me. I'm a sucker for anything RPG.
This looks great. Good going GOG!
