A virtual table-top realm opens!

The Witcher Adventure Game, the digital installment of the Fantasy Flight board game set in the dark fantasy realm of The Witcher, is available 10% off for the first week on GOG.com! If you were taking part in the beta-test program for this title, you get a special (non-stackable) 40% off discount, valid until December 27.

The Witcher Adventure Game takes players on a journey across the world of the Witcher as they assume the roles of four distinct characters known from the books and video games: Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer; Triss Merigold, cunning sorceress; Yarpen Zigrin, dwarven warrior; and Dandelion, roguish bard. Each character has unique skills and multiple ways of overcoming obstacles - the choice is yours: do you fight your way to victory, call on your charm or try your hand at diplomacy? It's the true spirit of board gaming brought straight to your computer screen. Set in the mature and brutal world of The Witcher the game features 4 unique heroes with different skills and approaches to problem solving. With clear, simple rules and intuitive mechanics, tons of quest cards allow players to tell a new tale every time they play. Look adventure in the eye in a world with which you'll fall in love!

Get The Witcher Adventure Game, for only $8.99 (or $5.99 if you were among the beta-testers!), 10% off until December 4, 10:59AM GMT, on GOG.com. The 40% off special discount for beta-test participants remains valid one month after the game's release until December 27.

SPECIAL CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT!

In The Witcher Adventure Game, you race against your opponents to gather the most victory points and work together to complete quest objectives. We think it would be fun to find out whom you would like to see in the game (and reward you for it!) - which brings us to the object of this character creation contest.

Pick a character from the Witcher universe, describe their role in The Witcher Adventure Game along with a special ability they can use and 2 skills they can choose to master. Then, post your entry in the forum thread for this news post, making sure it’s only up to 100 words long.

In the game itself, you can take on the role of one of four characters from the Witcher universe - so make sure you don’t double up on the ones that already exist in-game!

-- Geralt of Rivia, the monster slayer - single-handedly eliminate your opponents with the help of powerful potions or witcher signs.

-- Triss Merigold, the cunning sorceress - you can protect yourself with magical skills and cast spells in battle on your opponents.

-- Yarpen Zirgin, the dwarven warrior - call on the help of your fellowship of dwarves to aid him in battle.

-- Dandelion, the rogue bard - become a cunning diplomat and talk your way out of conflicts, bribe your opponents with gold or threaten to call on more powerful friends.

We’ll choose three best entries that will be rewarded with a physical copy of The Witcher Adventure Game from GOG! (Disclaimer: we can't promise that the winning concepts will ever appear in-game.)

More details on the rules:
-- English-only entries, please!
-- The contest entry deadline is in one week - 11.59 PM GMT, December 4th
-- We’ll announce the winners two weeks after that (on December 17th) in the first post of this thread, with links to their submissions, and through a private message to the three winners
-- One post per person! Otherwise, none will be counted
-- Similarly, one prize per person, of course ;)

Have fun, and good luck!

Lexor: So the store credit is just for one year? I thought it's valid forever.
A small addendum to PaterAlf's comment, store credit is valid for a year since the last addition to it. If you get €2 today in store credit, and another €1 on May 2015, your €3 credit is valid until May 2016. You won't lose the €2 in November 2015.
Basically, the line after PaterAlf's quote in his link.

JudasIscariot: Hi Ingsoc and everyone else,

Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know that what you are describing is not what is actually supposed to be happening and is a bug.

We are currently working on getting this mistake fixed ASAP. Sorry about that!

Lexor: Any known ETA for this patch? I'd like to know if it is a matter of hours (=it should be ready tomorrow), days (=it should be ready before nearest Sunday) or weeks/more?

I'm asking this because I would like to wait for this patch and download/start playing already patched game. :)
This was actually fixed already, about 10 minutes after Judas told you we're working on it ;)

RPGOracle: The games that were flat price before, are still flat price today.
Not true. There are several games that were flat-priced before and which are regional priced now (for example Deponia 3, OlliOlli, Amnesia - A Machine for Pigs, The Book of Unwritten Tales) plus 35 games that had to leave the catalogue when they introduced regional pricing and local currencies.

Lexor: Should we expect now GOG's marketing man to be fired?
Unfortunately it already happened. TheEnigmaticT left the company this summer. Neither him nor GOG ever spoke about the reasons.

They seriously managed to release this before their client software.

RPGOracle:
There really is no point in arguing about regional pricing. Every release thread for a game that has regional pricing turns into a huge debate, completely obscuring talk about the actual game. Its best just to ignore the posts.

HypersomniacLive: Perhaps it's a new strategy to reduce and hopefully (for them that is) ultimately stop for good the posts in release threads talking about it
I hope so, cause frankly, it is getting incredibly annoying. Make a hundred threads about how you dislike regional pricing, thats fine. But it would be nice to see actual game talk in release threads instead of the same comments and arguments over and over again.

Of course I'm sure everyone will say "well you aren't affected so you have no place to talk". I am still a user on this forum regardless of whether regional pricing affects me or not and I would feel the same about release threads even if I was affected. Because its the same shit as before, except "yet another indie", "yet another platformer", "not old enough" complaints have been replaced with pricing complaints. I'm wondering if its possible to ever have a release thread on this forum that doesn't contain complaints unrelated to the game itself.

:o TET is no longer in GOG? :o

I thought rather (according to posted YT link) that the "new person" sitting behind new regional policy would be fired, but I did not expect such kind of news....

Truth be told, we haven't seen him in the forum ever since the regional pricing announcement back in February. Then, he mentioned in his blog that he would be leaving GOG in August.

So, the reality is quite different than in video.

Video: TET kicks the "regional prices" man off.
Reality: "Regional pricing" man causes(probably) TET to leave.

Sad times.

No, I won't tell you that you have no place to talk. You're right, as a member of this forum you can express your opinion, but then everyone else does too, even if you don't agree or like it. It's not mandatory to read every single post in a thread. Perhaps you could follow your own advice (that you gave to RPGOracle just above) instead of asking for those you disagree with to stay out of your way or be silenced.

I understand the objections you (and others) have to this discussion being held in this thread. And you do have a point, so I will withdraw from that discussion in this thread (I think I've made my view on this clear anyway).

Here is the thing with installing it actual online with Galaxy enabled, you get immediately a 3.6mb patch for the game. Even if you do not plan to play against others, it might be worth it.

So to confirm, in the fixed downloadable now available, Galaxy does not install itself automatically? Apologies, I don't want to go downloading it to test if I want to return it.
Milva, the Brokilon archer

Special ability: Woodcraft - Once per turn Milva can spend [1 red lead] to evade a monster (she does not need to roll dice; non of the monster's effects apply).

Example development skills:
Hunting - When you perform the [Rest] action, gain [1 gold].
Snares - Before combat, you can become delayed to add [2 swords] to your results.

Ingsoc85: What the hell GOG?! why do I need to enter my account details in order to enter the game, even though I want to only play it offline? You specifically promised this galaxy thing would be optional :(
