Mafwek: I appreciate the free update, but how much more demanding is Remaster compared to the original?
Gpu wise its about twice as demanding as the o.g version ... if I understand cpu matters right that is a similar case there too.. but I don't know cpu matters aswell as I do gpu matters so could be wrong there
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to have a remaster of a 2019 game? Honestly, tech hasn't improved that much in these last six years. *shrug*

Same its weird yet its kinda now a ''industry standard'' to remaster games that 'new'' and even newer then that now.. I atlast can sorta understand a remaster of a game that new if its to get the gameplay and such to be more like that of the sequel that came out when speaking in terms of pc game version even if I disagree with such remastering so soon but atleast there it'd have some degree of understandable going on
Now I wish I bought the original when it was like $12 for all the stuff. I feel like with the new pricing I am getting kicked in the TEETH to get the extras I want in cost, like the soundtrack and others. Thanks Frogwares for adding bloated RAM feature crap like Lumen. Lumen is crap by the way given what bloated RAM requirements it has, it's inefficient compared to Raytrlacing. edit: Plus I am NOT enabling pro-1984esque features like DLSS and Frame Generation to be able to run it.
From $12 to $35 plus possibly a change in visuals I may not like. Will a purchase of the remaster even give the option of including the original?
Just removed this from my wishlist(which was kept ON since I had the original might I add), I will wait and hope till the full version comes close to $12 again(or on Amazon) or GOG cuts the crap and lets us buy the soundtrack separately WITHOUT the game.
Are there any OTHER games coming with remasters I should worry about a major price JACK?!
edit: I know I am suppose to route for you as a developer and being your own publisher Frogwares but stuff like this, especially removing the original makes it difficult. It feels like you are grabbing me by the ankles and shaking me up and down.
I hope someone from Frogwares reads this.

If you actually read the announcement news it states directly when one buys the remaster they get the O.G version as a bonus .. Granted earlier the store page itself hadn't mentioned it but now also the store page mentions it as well don't know why the store page hadn't earlier
solid :D

I should play the game since I bought it like a couple months ago :D

Breja: I'm not really interested in buying, but just out of sheer curiosity I checked out the comparison between the two versions, and maybe I'm just blind or stupid, but I swear as the video started I took the original for the remaster.
Honestly I have to agree here. With the exception of the one comparision in the bar (second one) and the fog I would prefer the old version as well. It is nice to get the remastered for free - so thank you - but I guess I'd rather play the old one.

But if they didn't do the remaster they couldn't jack the remaster up to near new game pricing complete once it goes off. -_-
Nice thing GOG learning to keep the old versions available, also (see Doom 3).

The new specs for the remastered version are _significantly_ higher than for the old one, due to UE5.

so let's say #thnx here.

FWIW in the case of DOOM 3 the "old" version was released later on GOG iirc.

Yes, GOG listened to us and they learned.

Also Bioshock and Blade Runner they made the old versions available after the pressure.
Now the do it right away.

A step forward, in my book.

Thanks for the free update, Frogwares!

And yes, very happy that the original version is still available. Good work, GOG!

GOG aren't the ones that make those decisions, they're beholden to whatever the publisher asks them to do, be it delisting the original version for good and replace it with the remaster/remake or to at least keep the original version around but as a 'Legacy version' extra to the remaster/remake.

If there's anyone to be pressured to reinstate or keep the original version listed/available it's the respective publisher.
Thank you GOG and Frogwares for the free update, while keeping the old version available to be played. Other publishers should take note.
