real.geizterfahr: I think Starmaker's talking about this screenshot. That kid doesn't look like she's "in the 16-18 range" and she's definitely not "covered pretty well". No one here would allow his/her 12 years old daughter to walk around like that.
That's Fie, and in-game lore states she is 16. Without going too deep into the spoiler territory, her past has been pretty rough for her to care about such trivalities as covering every possible bit of skin. In the screenshot I don't see any unmentionables, two piece on the beach would reveal much more and I'd guess that parents who try to prevent their 16yo from going swimming would meet some pretty strong resistance.

Just trying to put things straight, nothing personal.

She still looks like she's 10 or 11 years old. Nothing new for anime style stuff... Draw a kid and just tell everyone she's old enough.

As I said: I wouldn't even care if they were all naked. I just said that I can see (and understand) what Starmaker is talking about. And if you're honest to yourself, you can see it too.

Don't play stupid... You know very well that there's a difference between a beach and your every day clothes that you wear when you go shopping. I live on an island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is basically surrounded by beaches, but no one here would even try to go into a supermarket wearing a bikini. Why? Because there's a difference between a beach and a town/city.

huan: Just trying to put things straight, nothing personal.
That character still looks like a 10 or 11 years old whore. Again: I don't really care, even if she IS a 10 years old whore in the game (A Song of Ice and Fire is full of rape and abuse of minors and I still read it). But I don't have to "defend" that style by telling people that she's 16 according to in game lore and that everything's fine with her clothes anyway. Honestly: Have a look at her and GUESS her age. And then tell me if you'd let your daugther wear such clothes at that age (no matter if the 16 from the lore or the guessed age) - and I'm not talking about the beach here.

I'll repeat it once more: Nothing wrong with that character and her clothes in my eyes. But I definitely can understand people who think this is kinda wrong and disgusting. Not everyone's okay with 10 years old looking teens in sexy clothes. Of course that's these people's problem. Not every game is designed to appeal to every person. Sometimes you'll see a game that's just not for you. It's just bad when you like the rest of the game (I love the newer Deus Ex games, but absolutely hate Adam Jensen).

Well really there are plenty of people who look older or younger than they are so I don't really see the need for such a conversation especially for something that isn't even real.

We have that around here as well and I have seen plenty of girls going with two piece bikinis to the supermarket. Maybe not to the big malls that are 10-20km inland and it may be culturally dependent but it's definitely a thing in the beach towns. I don't think anybody can really say what's appropriate attire for a fictional scenario that's not even possible irl.

I would be more concerned if my 12 years old daughter was walking around with a sword slicing others up. If she really has to work and not go to school, couldn't she consider some safer profession instead of an adventuring mercenary killer, like prostitution or something?

That's a weird thing to say on a... gaming forum ;) Nothing here is real. Should we all stop discussing our hobby now?

But honestly... I don't see the need to discuss this either (and I never wanted to - I just tried to explain what Starmaker probably was talking about). It's a game of a Japanese developer and that character looks like she's 10 or 11 years old and wears clothes that look like a whore's working dress. Nothing to discuss here since we all have eyes and we all know that Japanese culture is very different from the rest of the world. So.. When you really feel the need to "defend" this, just mention the fact that this is a Japanese game, where this is perfectly normal. Just don't try to defend it with weird arguments like "ingame lore says she's 16", "there are lots of people who look younger than they are" and "you can't forbid your daughter to go swimming". All of this sounds like you feel kinda guilty or something. Don't do this. For a character of a Japanesee game, she looks almost prude. I've seen weirder shit on mainstream shows like Sailor Moon.

The only "supermarkets" here where people (tourists) enter with bikinis and trunks are the ones directly at the beach. You know, the ones where 0.5l of water cost four or five times as much as 1.5l would cost in a normal supermarket. We even have (or had? it's changing every year) a decree here (only for our municipality) that it's forbidden to walk around without wearing a shirt! This is/was only allowed at the beach. It became necessary because some tourists didn't get that it's not a nice thing to smear their sweat and sun lotion all over bus seats and other things (windows, houses, chairs).

Yup, swords suck! I'd at least teach her to shoot balls of magic light from a giant weapon that she shouldn't even be able to lift.

No the issue as I pointed out is that there ARE people who look younger than they are as there are people that look older than they are. You can't say that's a weird argument as it's a part of the argument or nonsensical things arguments like feeling guilty over something. Age isn't really and never was something that you can accurately judge. Japanese culture isn't really at play here. So if someone has a problem with this would they have a problem with someone looking like a 14 y.o. but that's really an 18 y.o. dressing like a hooker? Is it simply spilling over into the virtual world here? That to me is the real issue here.

This isn't an isolated incident either. Sadly we've had countless SJW attacks trying to influence video games.

As I said this may be a cultural thing. It's definitely not confined as I've seen it like 5km away from the beach and even in the shopping mall which is not directly at the beach. Nobody here seems to have a problem with it either. I can understand if someone is objecting from the cultural viewpoint but then it shouldn't be based on age and it shouldn't be forced on everybody either.

For fuck sake, its an imaganry work/work of art. Who cares about skimpy clothing., large breasts or whatever in fiction. Im so frigging tired of this political correctness wave and social justice warriors that need to care about works of fiction.
Its not real people......so its not facts. Are people protesting because of small child statues that are naked perhaps? Example The Vigeland Park , or what about books that describe controversial stuff? Example : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita
Get a grip.

Take your "I'm sick of SJWs" comment and shove it up your ass. I'm the exact opposite of a SJW. I just seem to have some kind of rare superpower, giving me the abilitiy to see that people can have a point even if I don't share their opinion. Maybe I should ask Marvel if they want to make me their next superhero...

Honestly though, what is wrong with people nowadays? I did everything humanly possible to make absolutely clear that I don't share Starmaker's opinion (see quotes above). I just answered a post to explain what Starmaker probably meant. And now? Now I have to defend an opinion that I don't even share and am a SJW who wants to ruin fun for everyone. Are you fucking serious? What happened to being able to see where the opinion of other people might come from?

Fuck, it's a game. It's not real and no one's getting harmed. Yet you guys feel the need to defend it against someone who shares your opinion (but understands the opinion of "the enemy"). And you do this with bullshit arguments like "You can't forbid your 16 years old daughter to go to the beach". That whole SJW crap completely fucked up your brains. You guys look like total idiots who have to defend their child porn. If you really feel the need to defend this, just say two things:
1. It's a game.
2. It's from Japan. They have a very different culture. It's perfectly normal for them.

And please: Stop defending it against someone who's not even attacking it. This really, really, really makes you look stupid. If you want, tell Starmaker to fuck off and to spread her SJW agenda somewhere else (you'd still look like idiots, but at least you'd do it on the right "battlefield"). But don't fight people who say "I don't share her opinion, but I think she's talking about the clothes of that very yong looking girl from this screenshot. I can see why some people might find this kinda wrong... But it's just a game, so I wouldn't even care if they were all naked."

The thing is, im not defending anything. Im pointing out why its absurd to react to skimpy clothing in a videogame when there are examples of art from the real world that no one reacts too. But i guess SJW have frigging double standards and double morals. As i Pointed out , No one is reacting to the statues of children that are naked in the vigelands park or other simmilar works of art. But yet there are people that for some reason that find it annoying when artists are simply using their imagagination in fiction in frigging vidoe games. You said it yourself that you can understand why somone find it annoying.
Why, because the artist dared to use his imagination?

Lodium: You said it yourself that you can understand why somone find it annoying.
Why, because the artist dared to use his imagination?
No, I can't understand it "because an artist dared to use his imagination". I can understand it because it's a simple fact that different people have different tastes. That's not too hard to understand... When I can find it annoying that devs of AAA games love stupid kill move or death animations in almost every game nowadays (Tomb Raider reboot, Far Cry, Skyrim, etc.), or that some characters make the impression that they're designed to appeal to 12 years old kids (Adam "I'm too cool for you" Jensen), why should it be impossible for someone else to dislike kids in revealing clothes? Are you a SJW nowadays just because you know that everyone's taste is different?

Your post is another, perfect example of what I meant with "That whole SJW crap completely fucked up your brains. You guys look like total idiots who have to defend their child porn." I say "Not everyone likes the same things" and you jump in to defend something with "Why, because the artist dared to use his imagination?" -.- Did I say they should've given that poor kid some proper clothes? Nope, I even said the contrary. Did I say that Starmaker's right and that this game should be designed to appeal to everyone? Nope, I even said the contrary. Did I say the "artist" (dude who designed the character) is a fucking pervert and child abuser? Nope, I even said the contrary (that this is even harmless for Japan, where the culture is pretty different from ours). All I said is that I can understand why some people might find kids in sexy clothes annoying/wrong. And you jump in to talk about "the artist", which is just another way to say "Are you against freedom of art?"

Yes, yes, I know... SJWs try to ruin every game with discussions about PC bullshit. But you anti-SJWs (or whatever) aren't any better. When I criticised Tomb Raider for its over the top gory death animations, no one told me to shut the fuck up and to respect the artist's ideas. Some people agreed, some people disagreed. But I had a normal discussion about unnecessary gore with everyone. When I criticised Deus Ex Human Revolution for it's bland main character (a super cool, stone cold killer with sunglasses and a leather mantle -.-), some people agreed and some people disagreed. But we had a normal discussion about character design. No one told me anything about "artists", trying to push that "freedom of art" argument. So why do you guys do exactly that when someone criticises a part of a game that's got to do something with the portrayal of women (or little girls)? It's just a fucking opinion. Agree or disagree, discuss like you'd discuss with anyone else, but don't tell people that kids wear bikinis on beaches and that everyone who understands a differing opinion is filthy SJW scum. All you achieve with that is to look just as stupid as your beloved SJWs.
I hope the remake of Dragon's Crown leaves the Sorceress intact. >.>

I can see your point, but I even don't like the idea of charging people for "costumes" and "accessories". There's no balance between effort/value and price. I would never offer something like this to people who like things I create and for which they paid a proper price, but that's just me. Nothing to get upset about, I simply don't buy these kind of games.
No sale on the first game for people to wet their toes? :/
