Oh hell yes.
Does anyone know the answer to this question for Oblivion? Looking online, many state that the game has numerous bugs, and to save often. Does this GOTY and GOG version have patches that fixes those bugs, or do some still remain?

check your PM once you get here ;)
That's awesome. Watch out though, because now everyone else will be spamming memetic phrases to try to get free keys.

PandaLiang: I see. Thank you!

Tauto: Best solution is delete Steam version and make sure you go into Steam apps and delete the left over files but copy saves to transfer.
Going back for some searching I just remember that the only reason Steam version of Oblivion doesn't allow Nehrim and Oblivion to co-exist was because Steam version of Oblivion can only be launched from Steam (thus the separate Nehrim launcher will not work). With some tinkering the GOG version on itself might be enough to allow Nehrim and Oblivion to co-exist. I will totally give it some try some day.

Stryder2931: Before I purchase, does anyone know if there are mods available to update the graphics, or are the graphics fine enough with the GOTY edition? I do not have much experience with mods, so the easier the install the better!
Other people will have some suggestions, but I remember one great mod that replaced the fairly ugly draw distance on the environment ground map with a higher resolution one. I'm not sure if it's included in the GOTY edition or not.

Maybe Gog should create a Oblivion Mod post for this.
Nice, and considering we have already a formelly Bethesda Steamworks-only title (Fallout: New Vegas), good chances of seeing Skyrim here someday

Yeah, some tinkering will be needed to be done.

I read the link that Stryder2931 provided.

No its not just fear mongering - GOG is changing and they want to go DRM route even though they always bragged about standing against it and offering DRM Free games, meanwhile they really REALLY really want to go that route as well now.
Once they forced this Galaxy crap down everyones throat, forcing this client before you can download and install your game, they will turn around and say 99% of the people use it so why not make it permanent and DRM now. But that 99% was forced to use it anyway.
No GOG wants to go DRM way for a while now and they just trying to get us there but make it think we agreed on this, and it all started when Galaxy arrived. That is where it began.
Why must i OPT out??? Why can the people who want to use it not "Opt In" then, why force us to have to untick it every fcking time now when installing our games? Why not make it the other way around. And GOGs excuse why they did it this way is also fcking lame excuse. Again this is to force it down our throats.
I am done with GOG, will use up my last money that i still have in my wallet and call it quits with GOG and move back to Steam permanently, because soon GOG will be DRM just like Steam.

Well, I guess he deserved it. I've never seen such single-mindedness when it came to new releases! :-D

Okay... way to overreact then.
Can still play without Galaxy. Check!
Can you still download without Galaxy? Check!
Can you still do both without Galaxy? Check!

What has actually changed... not much. You got to uncheck a box. But if it makes you feel better than more power to you.

EDIT:

You also won't have to uncheck it every time, this is going to be stored in the registry from what I have gathered. Should only have to do it once unless on a new PC.

Also you can use the classic installers...

Ok lets overreact then
Can still play without Galaxy. Check! - For now maybe, very near future Forced and DRM, just like Steam
Can you still download without Galaxy? Check! - For now but later will be Galaxy only.
Can you still do both without Galaxy? Check! - For now, again later only with Galaxy.

Are you really that naive and blind to see that GOG has slowly been edging this in (Galaxy) and soon that will be your ONLY choice.

Again i ask, why must I uncheck it, why can it not be unchecked and only people who want to use it then check it.

Why?? Because this is just another way to slowly force it down your throat.

Go read the link again, see how many people also ask this, why can it not be unchecked and people who want to use it, they can check it. It will be less people who will need to click it, trust me on this.
Why do you think we are here at GOG, to have to use a client like Galaxy again, to later change to DRM and be forced unto us.
No i wanted offline, DRM Free games without having to use a client to get my games and control me.

But hey go on, i want to talk to you again very soon when it all changes to forced and DRM. Then i want to hear what you say.

The graphics aren't exactly terrible (though it is a game from 2005, and has aged) but there are graphics mods for pretty much everything - it's just a matter of how much trouble you want to go to. Thiev already posted the character overhaul, that one is a must. Just browse the nexus site while you're there for others, or do a google search for 'oblivion graphics mods' or similar, there are plenty of sites that have discussed this.

Redfoxe: Love the soundtrack of this game. But the character faces.

They still haunt me.
avatar
Thiev: That's why there is a mod for everything out there ;)

EDIT, my question was answered earlier...
Does this mean we'll be getting the construction set and NV GECK??

avatar
Marioface5: Will all three games have their mod tools here?
avatar
Thiev: Both Fallouts (3 / NV) have GECK included, and Morrowind came with TES CS, so I won't have any problems with adding Construction Set to Oblivion, however rebuilding the whole game just for that right after release seems a bit unnecessary.

It will be included in any installer update though.
avatar
Dilbertus: So to be clear, do Fallout 3 and New Vegas support GECK? And does Oblivion support the Construction set?
avatar
Thiev: Well, FO3's GECK is still crashing with Realtek drivers if you don't have a microphone plugged in ;) but otherwise it works as it worked before.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that's the better option... however, I have to take GOG at face value when they claim the reason for this is new users have a hard time finding and using Galaxy so they want to make it as easy as possible for them. I do think this is a stupid excuse... however, the "OMG this is the road to DRM" is also equally stupid.

GOG has spent the better part of almost 3 years now marketing Galaxy as optional. They have also spent "a lot" of development time making Galaxy be able to download installers and to play nice with them. There would be zero reason to do all of that, and then do a complete 180 like this. That would mean they just wasted a lot of resources, including money and time. It doesn't hold up.

And I'll admit I was wrong. But I'm 99% sure I'm not because GOG isn't that stupid. The thing that makes more sense (GOG wants to streamline the process for both set of users) is the more practical answer.
