Today it's my birthday.

GOG, I can't express how GOOD a present this is. This and Age of Empires are the two first games I ever bought, and the two on which I probably spent the most hours in my whole life. Now SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.
I have to admit I had hoped this title would come with Multiplayer support via GoG Galaxy or at least a lobby system. Hopefully we can get this in the future.

While this hope has been dashed, it does not diminish my immense pleasure at having this game readily available. Time to blow up some TIEs!
Thank you very much for this release GOG !!! One of my all time favorites!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Can someone please test this release? The original verison has several issues has several issues with moden systems which can mostly be fixed (e.g. messed up fonts with Nvidia cards)

No Widescreen support on my system but the classic Nvidia bugs are nowhere to be seen.

You're using a Nvidia card? If so, which one? Would you mind and take 1-2 screenshots (in-flight) and post them in this thread?

This announcement, ladies and gentlemen, is officially responsible that I just fainted. OMFG. So oh-some.

After X-Wing became available, I played it through. Along with Tie-Fighter (but I'm still a Rebel at heart). Then I went on and tried to get to run my old copy of XWA on my modern computer. Second disk had a defect, no to mention the pain in the ass trying to get to run XWA on a Win7 machine. Not impossible but way more time-consuming and complicated than most people are willing to accept.

And now this. Totally unexpected (at least for me). Holy crap. I am delighted on a level I cannot even begin to phrase.
I am using the Geforce GTX 550 Ti

It's nice to have this on GOG, installing the disc version is just too much work only to realize AMD's drivers broke it.
Hope this one works.

By the way GOG, you people really should stop shoehorning all these games into the same subforum, I guess you really like to create a mess.

Thank you very much! It really looks like GOG has fixed this annoying issue. :)
I loved all SW space simulators and this the last cool one!

(even if the final level is a bit rushed)
So how good are these two newly release X-Wing games? Normally I would get an impression of them from Mobygames, but their site is down.

Personally I think Alliance is right up there with TIE Fighter as the best of the lot of them.
For those who are interested in mods for the game, there's still an active community taking care of updating the game's models. Check out this thread for a list of mods and tools:
