The one that started it all...

Star Wars™: Dark Forces, the very first FPS ever to be set in the Star Wars® universe is DRM-free for Windows and Linux, now on GOG.com with a special 20% launch discount!

When Star Wars™: Dark Forces was first released in 1995, it quickly proved to be a revolutionary title not only because it provided the most immersive Star Wars® experience to date, but also because it was one of the very earliest first person shooters to introduce design elements such as realistic multi-story structures, the freedom of movement to jump and crouch, and a well written storyline complete with beautiful pre-rendered cutscenes. The story of Dark Forces covers the humble beginnings for Kyle Katarn, an Imperial officer turned Rebel operative, who would go on to become a master force wielder in the later Jedi Knight series of games and inspire countless stories taking place in the Star Wars™ Legends universe.

Star Wars™: Dark Forces is a unique opportunity to experience the game that shaped video gaming and the Star Wars™ franchise for years to come. Specially prepared and meticulously tested on Windows and Linux, now on GOG.com! The 20% launch discount will last for 72 hours until Friday, January 23, at 1:59 PM GMT.
Classic game well worth the play.
Wait, what? 2 instabuys today?

Why didn't you release at release date, damn it! I could have bought it together with infested planet!

Oh well, I think I won't instabuy this one. The one I have really fond memories of is Jedi Outcast, I'll save the instabuy for that one and wait of a sale on this.
To my fellow FPS fans, Buy this game! This is one of the best shooters from the early nineties. Plus it has great 8-bit(ish) renditions of the classic Star Wars tunes. Be sure to try out Dark Forces II when it comes here too.

I'll definitely buy this. :)
PLEASE TELL ME THIS VERSION IS FIXED UP UNLIKE THE STEAM VERSION!!!?

The Steam Versions problems:

1. At the mission select menu there is a 1 minute delay when it starts. Like you click on the level you want yet nothing happens only less than a minute later the action occurs.

2. Color problems. Are they fixed? In the Steam Version when I alt tab the game to windowed mod the colors get messed up and though it goes back to normal when I alt tab back there is still some color glitches on the interface things like the numbers on the health looks like rainbows.

3. I do not know whether this is vestage of this game being a DOSBox game but the framerate feels lower than usual. How so well I watched Ancient DOS Games review of it and in the review the game looked like ran at a much better framerate.

Also lastly and this is the only thing the Steam version got right is that the game comes with its keybindings already with the standard WASD+Mouselook controls. Does this version come built like that already?

Windows and Linux but no Mac? That's an odd choice for a DOS game. Oh well, that's what Boxer was invented for after all.
Maybe there is a technical problem with Mac? Or maybe they didn't have the time to make it yet.
Thank you for this release GOG. Played this game for hundreds of hours. Death to the empire! :-)
Beautiful! Wishlisted for later consumption. ^_^

Errrr nooo...it's really complicated. Sorry don't wanna get into the details here but the tech issue is by far easily surmountable ...

It's really complicated but it's easily surmountable? Contradiction? Confused...

Legally complicated, but technically easily surmountable, I guess?
