Never fan of isometric western RPG, but this release do intrigued me.

Sabin_Stargem: My opinion of the Beamdog Haters: They are trying to keep 'outsiders' from their sandbox, for the sake of rose-tinted memories and a desire to feel superior over the 'normies'.

I rarely consider the arguments of this bunch anymore.
I swear to God, if these haters don't stop hating, I'll buy the Digital Deluxe Edition at full price!

if I have to read one more dull Beamdog-bashing post that is totally devoid of creativity and facts from someone who has never gotten past the character creation screen in any of their D&D-based games, I will be forced to buy NWN:EE on every platform. Including Steam.

Feel free to stick it to the haters by buying me a copy instead.
To the one who says "beamdog fixes lot of bugs" (i can't find anymore the post) ,this statement is partially false. It was Shadooow,a guy from the community, who made a compilation of fixe's released by other members of the community. Beamdog then has pick the shadooow e community work, and implemented in his EE.
To be more accurate they don't care to fix many dangerous bug/exploit,and this despite i have reported to them.
I'm not a beamdog heater, just a guy who followed the develop of this EE.

There are many works to do if they want to define their version "enhanced" and concern mainly: graphics, bug fixes, remove limitations (remove unhardcoded stuff, open spellbook, remove level cap,add more classes etc etc)...and above all a new DLC.

I was excited by the fact that my favorite game was restored, but after viewing the work done by "beamdog" i became skeptical about this project.
I hope they accept criticism (things I've noticed they do not love ...) and change direction ... for the sake of this gem.

I put in a couple hours of NWN last night. Got tired of my squishy ranger, so I rolled a new rogue, and really had fun with it.

Everyone here should stop arguing about pointless shit, and go play whichever version they fancy.

How dare you bring logic and civility into this debate.

Shame on you, we all know the crux of being a gamer is complaining about pointless shit that literally has no adverse affect on our consciousness and wellbeing.

Let us be miserable in peace.
All these people who didn't buy the original Diamond Edition the day Beamdog announced Enhanced Edition shot themselves in the foot; it was my first intuition to do so. That said, I only did so because I did not like the practices Beamdog was doing by changing characters and adding gender stuff for no reason; and changing the games to fit their own ideology. That all changed when they tried to do Torment and the creator was like "your not changing anything but what I approve" and people were happy with it; they learned. Now they do what they should have done all along, comparability fixes and the like. Good. I want games to be as close to original as possible with efficient fixes along the way. I want DRM removed, which is the case here, and multiplayer brought back. Which they did. I did not like Beamdog, but I've seen their practices change from community influence, and while I still don't like everything they're doing I appreciate the work they are attempting to do by maintaining accessibility to these old games. Both version are great, and if you don't want to play the Enhanced Edition you've had around 2 decades to make up your mind; that's just how life works.

They didn't change BGII after fan back lash. It was just BG1 and their new DLC, Siege of Dragonspear.
Now that you mention it I remember the battle Atari had with them before the second one was released, but I don't remember too many complaints about changes. People were still fresh with BG1 issues and complaints. You are right, it wasn't when they changed; but I remember a specific article by Venturebeat where someone from Beamdog said this (I looked up the article):

“We made a conscious decision not to tamper with the original writing,” a Beamdog spokesperson said over email. “For the few instances where new writing was needed — i.e., for a couple of additional journal entries, special ability descriptions and the Steam Achievements — Chris Avellone wrote the text personally. In addition, Chris requested to do an editorial pass of all the text in the game, and we happily obliged.”

And that was what brought me back for a second look. I own all the EE's on GOG, including the Baulder's Gate 1; because I have faith they'll continue to fix and maintain it to the communities standards and not their own. SoD was, no bueno, it proved I still don't want them to make BG3, or ID3, or NW3; no more original anything please.

This.

And the "gender stuff"* was only in their new DLC.

* the "gender stuff" that has a whole bunch of knickers knotted was a single NPC with a single line regarding "gender stuff" that amounted to about 2 minutes of gameplay.

No, they changed Jahiera specifically because of their take of gender roles. It wasn't just the DLC, but some of the base game as well.

Not to mention the Forgotten Realms is easily one of the worst settings to freak out about gender stuff in.
