Tactical sacrifices.

UPDATE: The atmospheric OST is now also available for purchase.

Meridian: Squad 22, a single player sci-fi RTS with tactical gameplay and a compelling narrative, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

How much do you value your squad? Are they just disposable assets, means to an end, or people you feel responsible for, as their commander? Your team was the one sent by United Earth to investigate what happened to the colonists that went missing, an alarming event which puts the entire initiative at risk. But what you'll find there will challenge both your tactical and leadership skills, as you'll need to decide whether you're willing to sacrifice your squad in order to fulfill your mission and if going on the offensive is more efficient than waiting for your opponents to come to your base. You have a 10-hour long campaign to decide the fates of both crews and once you get the hang of it, you can try to wipe your enemies off planet Meridian in Planetary Conquest, a challenging mode with over 100 procedurally generated missions.

Launch a counterattack to save the missing colonists with the help of your trusty Meridian: Squad 22, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Tyrrhia: Just wanna check: are you referring to me or to @Schnuff? It's kind of hard to tell because of the way the quote is and I clearly see the difference between this game and Death Road to Canada.

Matruchus: Definitely not you, just pointed out that Schnuff probably wrote in the wrong thread :)
Gotcha. There's no more misunderstanding, then. ;)

Nice to see the contact with devs was restablished.
I'm really pleased to see the next Meridian game here. The first one will never make my list of great RTS's but I did enjoy it. It'll be interesting to see how the series has evolved in Squad 22. The reviews I've read seem promising.

Although Schnuff's comment would have been nearly as out of place on the Death Road To Canada thread, since that game clearly isn't an RTS... Confusion all around, apparently.
Wishlisted for now :) (havent got around to play the Meridian 22 yet hehe)
Wishlisted for now. Perhaps this will motivate me to play Meridian: New World.

Have you had a chance to pick it up and try the game yet by chance? Curious as you were pretty interested in seeing it come here so if/when you have a chance to play it I'd be interested in hearing your critique/review etc. of the game.

The graphics look nice but I'm skeptical of a one man dev team being able to support a game on multiple stores with the same level of support, when we often have bigger indie teams/studios dropping games here and never updating them.

I tried the demo of the first game, and, while in parts pretty, it came across as a rather bland and generic RTS experience. I wonder if it did improve any in the sequel, but I have my doubts. *shrug*

Reading reviews for the game suggests that many feel it is quite limited and lacking in many ways as you suggest as well. At the same time others seem to feel excited about it also, but then half the planet was excited about No Man's Sky and we all know how that ended up so... :)

The Meridian games look like they have decent graphics and potential, but for my own taste I think the current asking price is much higher than what the game has to offer for me. I temporarily threw both on my wishlist just to keep track of them. Some time down the road in a year or 3 or whatever if the price drops to who-cares pricing and enough reviews suggest the games hold their water in the grand scheme of things I might consider them for whimsical purchase on a seasonal promo or something if the Steam positive reviews score is high enough. Time will tell. :)

Another thing interesting to note is that Meridian Squad 22 is almost $2 CAD cheaper on Steam regular price compared to GOG.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/451400/ - $16.99

And Meridian New World is about $1 cheaper as well:

Meridian: New World was mediocre at best and I regret buying it. Don't know about this.

I haven't even played the prequel yet. Sure I'm glad if there are no strained relationships between GOG and devs, and I do have a general interest on RTS titles (specially singleplayer focused ones) so it's nice to have more around, but I'm in no hurry to play this particular one. Plus I'm rather busy at the moment, so while I will eventually get to playing the game it will be a while until then.

I'll let you know my feedback once I get to it if you want.

I'm heavily biased towards Sci-fi RTS over Fantasy RTS, and I liked Meridian New World.
So this game has been on my radar since release and it's nice to see it appear on GOG.
It is supposed to be a very challenging game as there are no difficulty options and the AI is always ahead of you.
And I'm always happy to see single-player focused RTS games, it's not that common today.
I'm waiting for the reply from the Gog staff for this .

Nope, it wasn't updated. Its still the old 1.03 version.

Edit: Just played it today. I asked the dev for patch update now. Hopefully it will happen soon.

So we have an abandoned version of a game with no sign of an update forthcoming, GOG refused their sequel for unknown reasons, people whined in the forums so GOG listened to everyone and allowed the sequel to come here too and the original game is still not updated?

Doesn't sound like a good sign to me. Hopefully the "sole developer" sorts that out very soon or it's pointless to have either of them on GOG really.
