The game that wore a fedora.

Hot Tin Roof: The Cat That Wore A Fedora a quirky metroidvania platformer, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount!

Quirky, spiffy and a little off-beat. Hot Tin Roof: The Cat That Wore A Fedora is a 2D film-noir inspired platformer that's all about finding secrets, puzzles and items. A series of murders, a gritty town of boxes and cats, and a detective story await Emma Jones, the two bit PI in an 8-bit world. Together with your trusty sidekick Franky, the cat that wore a fedora, you'll investigate, chat up civilians and platform all around this extensive 3D world. No film-noir experience would be complete without a little bit of the jazz, and Hot Tin Roof: The Cat That Wore A Fedora chiptune delivery is more than worth a listen.

Poop to save your game, but don't forget to wash your hands, in Hot Tin Roof: The Cat That Wore A Fedora, available now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, March 3 at 3:59 PM GMT.

ShadowWulfe: Edit: The graphics remind me of "The Real Texas".
Same here. When I first saw screenshots and the trailer, I was sure it was made by the same developer.

It's definitely an interesting release. Might pick it up this week (depending on which other releases we'll get).

zlep: The term "8-bit" has taken a lot of abuse from indies lately... ^_^

Wishbone: I'll say... It seems that lately, anything less realistic than Crysis is labelled 8-bit.
Inspired by retro classics in the vein of SNES/N64 games, it's an 8-bit hardcore platformer with beautiful pixel graphics that doesn't hold your hand.

My MBP can handle the requirements and I love cats. Will definitely think about picking it up with the launch discount. Thanks GOG!

Wishbone: How exactly is that world 8-bit?

Konrad: Call it an artist's rendition of an 8-bit world in a 3D game. I'm thinking something like this.
Not creepy at all! :D

On topic, the concept and general theme of the game look interesting, but I'm not sure how I feel about the visual style. The artsy-fartsy pseudo-retro look has been a bit overused lately. Will probably wait until it goes on discount, but it does look like it could be fun.

Apparently it's a less than 100MB download -- I guess that's one advantage of the minimalistic style.
All games with a cat are good, so this game is good ! That's all folks !

SNES/N64 -- 8-bit? Pixel graphics? Does not compute.

Anyhow, is it a platformer? I thought it's mostly an Adventure game, but it's hard to tell from the screenshots.

Yah. To me, 8-bit is TI/99-4A and C64.

Or the original NES, going with his examples. :P Also, isn't this a 3D game, and thus based primarily on... polygon graphics? Oh well.
Grim Catdango?

No clue. I'd prefer it to be an adventure, with all the fun stuff that comes with it. For some reason, a part of it's style reminds me of Jazzpunk. I'm wish-listing it, and will certainly be buying this one down the line.

If it blends Platformer/Adventure/Whatever game elements, that could actually make for an interesting mix.
In term of style looks somethat similar to Real Texas
Nice one, and not too late. I'll remove it from my Steam wishlist immediately and put it on the GOG one. :)
(It's even cheaper over here.)

Uhm, no. It really isn't.
