Return to the Mothership

Homeworld Remastered Collection, containing the legendary space RTSs turned instant classics, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, and a 50% launch discount.

Homeworld brought real-time strategy into actual 3D, creating a truly free-form tactical experience across battlefields vast in every dimension. It did so in a way that's not just manageable, but overwhelmingly fun! This engrossing space opera chronicles the struggles of an alien race, the Kushan, locked in a vicious conflict with a tyrannical empire as they make their way to the promised land.
Homeworld 2 expanded on the setting and story even further, while refining the overall gameplay and visual experience. Now the whole saga has been remastered, putting a fresh coat of paint and techno-magic over this timeless experience, so that new and veteran players alike can finally return safely to their true Homeworld. This version also includes the latest massive patch, which brings tons of radical changes to formations, ship behavior, gameplay balance, and more.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection includes both the classic and remastered editions of Homeworld & Homeworld 2.
Dedicated fans can also grab the remastered soundtrack from both games, available in MP3 and FLAC.

Engage in full-scale battle between vast 3D fleets in Homeworld Remastered Collection, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until June 10, 12:59 PM UTC.

Now that Gearbox is here I'd love to see Borderlands and the Duke Nukem games, Duke Nukem Forever included. :)

Very cool SCPM, thanks for sharing the link.

Breja: (...) I still have Empire at War to play with when the mood for space RTS strikes me, so I'll pass for now.
Keep in mind though that they play differently; in Empire at War you move in a 2D plane (and to be honest, this and the fact that the land battles are too simplistic killed my interest in the game - I own the retail version but never finished it) whereas in Homeworld you move in all directions (3D) which can be a little difficult at first. M key (IIRC) is your friend in Homeworld.

edit: and of course you know all that as you've played it, 'doh! It must be because of the overexcitement... :P

Shadowcat: They didn't release the new version on Linux? That's disappointing :/ This would be an easy buy otherwise. ....
Also hoping for a Linux release.

Unlikely. For Gearbox/Take2 to bring the game here is already a huge step. I don't think they'll ever go as far as to give DRM free copies to those that have their games on Steam...

omega64: I rebuy games for convenience.
If I own a game on CD I usually forget about it and never play it. xD
I'm often reburying what I owned on CD simply to clear space that they are taking up, as physical space is at a premium for me. Out of the homeworld games I own the second one on CD in one of those smaller size budget boxes. I'll probably scan the box art for interest sake and get rid of it.
For as much as I hate Gearbox, Duke Nukem Forever, Colonial Marines, every Borderlands after the first one(which is an absolute masterpiece), not paying the guy that created the Duke Nukem Megaton Edition while they "develop"( to be read "reverse engineer his code") a new edition, I must admit I'm stunned that they are releasing Homeworld on GOG. I never could have imagined such a thing happening, at least not until they went bankrupt and somebody else would have bought the IP.

There are no words... Amazing negotiating skills GOG!

Vow. So your list was right indeed. Can't wait for this one. Do you know about any other that is also coming this week?
So when the game card says: "As a bonus, you will also receive free access to: Homeworld Classic, Homeworld 2 Classic," are these GOG versions as well?
