Mafwek: First screenshots made me suspicious of the title, but branching storyline (in an adventure game!) made me really intrigued.

If anyone understands how branching storyline works, would they mind explaining it to me?
So, I'm always trying to explain this, and people never believe me. Here I go again.

Heaven's Vault isn't a branching narrative. It's a collection of possible narrative moments, which string themselves together dynamically. Every single thing you do - every choice you make, everything you find, or don't find, everything you say, or don't say, or miss, or discover - feeds into the system, which will spin out a story from it.

It's all authored content. It's not procedurally generated. But every play-through is totally unique and every moment can branch the story.

If you play: don't worry about it. You can't get stuck. You can't see everything. There's no point trying to farm the dialogue. Go wherever interests you, talk when you feel like talking, see what you can find. And should you finish the game and choose to play again... you'll find more, and different, and deeper.

... Did you believe me? I bet you didn't. But it's true!!

MarkoH01: @joningold: Do you plan localisation(s) as well?
We don't. The script is several hundred thousand words of content that's dynamically rewritten and reassembled - essentially being written as the story unfolds. We had this on 80 Days but it's about a thousand times more complicated here. Localisation would be possible, but enormously expensive and very, very buggy. As a studio of *does a quick count* 5 people, we just can't do it.

Sorry :( :(

Oh hey another game I lookout for. So many good releases and "to be released" on GOG recently. They're seriously on a roll right now. Hopefully GOG will have an excellent year with good lots of great earnings (besides the most like phenomental sales for Cyberpunk 2077 of course)!

No need to be sorry. It's understandable and I rather don't want to have any localisation than a buggy one. Thank you for explaining this to me.

Zoidberg: I didn't misread anything: my inquiries WERE ignored. All I got from Inkle and the dev were blocks, NOTHING else.
And from what remained: they acted like asses. And from what has been posted here by them? Nothing is there to change my mind.

SirPrimalform: You didn't get a reply (at first), you then interpreted that as being ignored and complained about that.

You are also outright lying when you say all you got from them were blocks.

You even replied to that tweet, so don't claim you didn't see it.

I got an answer when it was too late, I was civil about it then got blocked. So don't you try manipulating the facts here.

Anyway, I'm done with this shit.
Oh hey! It's that game I saw screenshots of with Archer photoshopped in.

I haven't done any manipulation here, all I did point out yours.
First impression when i saw the screenshots, looking like a sort of comic i asumed it would be a 2.5d point n click, so i watched some videos and..... it's a 3d exploring ( 3d like engine) and uses comic/cartoon like graphics which made me think it would be a nice old fashion point n click adventure in 2/.5 d style... ^‿^

Anyway, since it's not i pass....looking for more 2.5d point n click adventrues, not 3d ... (。-_-。)

joningold: We're looking at achievements for an update (depending on interest, basically). Will take this as a "+1" to including them!
Achievements aren't a requirement for me but it'd be nice to have them.

TLDR: +1

+1 too.
Basically if you have achievements on Steam you should have them on GOG too. :p
Looks good. Wishlisted.

i_ni: I was about to post how many women would go explore wilderness on their own (trailer speaking) but I decided not to; don't want to get political.

An instance of unsuccessful self-censorship; the hand that clicked "Post" took full responsibility.

+1 for the reference. Brilliant movie.

omega64: They... Get a free key for telling the developers to go fuck themselves? What? I'm so confused.

joningold: nah, it's for getting us onto GoG. They wouldn't have reconsidered the game if it wasn't for the minor storm created by this particular users tweets. Crazy but true.

(To re-iterate: insulting us will not give you free codes. Don't be that guy.)
So a case of unintended consequences? What a great story! lol
So GOG rejected this game and its now #4 bestseller on GOG?
Was there some proper reason for rejecting it or is GOG "curation" really that bad?
