First Encounter Assault Recon

F.E.A.R. Platinum, an award winning FPS horror, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount!

F.E.A.R. Platinum, is simultaneously described as one of the best designed first person shooters ever, and one of the eeriest horror games around. That's quite the combo. The FPS elements in F.E.A.R. Platinum remain exemplary even to this day, with A.I. that's willing to mercilessly out-flank and outmaneuver you, making each and every encounter an intense fight of who can turn the tables on whom. But combat is just half of this story, the second half is atmosphere - thick enough that you can slice it with a knife. This is a game of anticipation and fear of the unknown. It's downtime between combat encounters that will really get your heart pounding. As you wander the disconcertingly empty office halls and basements… something peculiar follows.

The Platinum package includes the base game, as well as the Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate expansions.

Become a highly-trained hunter of the supernatural in F.E.A.R. Platinum, available now, DRM-free, on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, February 19, at 1:59 PM GMT.

TWITCH STREAM SPECIAL
The one and only TotalBiscuit will be streaming the game live on twitch.tv/gogcom!

Will he be terrified of F.E.A.R. itself? Spend your evening with the cynical brit and soak in his always-unique perspective on Monday, February 16 at 9pm GMT / 4pm EST / 1pm PST.

why only english language. The original Fear is multilanguage........ the lack of language support is an Achilles heel for gog.

Let's hope the rest of the series to come here as well!
Fantastic release! Hoping for a bigger discount soon so I can finally play this classic. :)

It's the same with Steam version.
One of the greatest FPS of all time came to GOG!! After that, I can wait anything (BRING NOLF BRING NOLF BRING NOLF *sorry, overexcitement*) from GOG! For anyone that haven't played the game yet, you'll be crazy to miss it!

bigger & soon doesn't go together. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for a long time.. ;-)
So, few things about this game: linear, story driven, has some collectibles (laptops with data, health and reflex boosters). Expansions while not canon in Monolith timeline introduced new weapons (MInigun! turrets! VES-7, laser, grenade launcher'n' electro stuff )and enemies, revamped AI (new enemy in Extraction Point is annoying because comes in swarms in tigth places).

JKHSawyer: If this release is like Steam than they force you to install both expansions as well, which means the size is a lie and it's actually around 17GB.
My retail version never used that amount of space like Steam did with their filesystem mess. Base game+ EP was somewhere at 7-8GB, PM used EP and base game archives (7GB~ so all three games needed nearly 12-14 GB. Installer itself for PM has only 3.5GB EP has 1.5 GB and base game around 3.5-4 GB or just 5x700MB CD.

Personally I waiting when F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn hits here because that was first game from the series distributed on Steam without any reason, no achievements, even multiplayer based on Gamespy and not Steam.

Great to see F.E.A.R. on GOG! Will we see the sequels by any chance?
Another true good old game - hell, it's been nine years already? how time flies - that I've never played... even though I technically own it... on Steam... through an older Humble bundle... which I really only bought for Batman AA & AC GOTYs.

So, anyway, I'll definitely be snapping up this one. :)

Speaking of which, there's a chance for them to appear on GOG now.
Nice release, still own the original versions. Perseus Mandate was actually a pretty good expansion too. F.E.A.R 1 was the best in the series for me.
Instabought. THIS, GOG. THIS, RIGHT HERE, is why I fucking love you guys. This is gonna be a year of years for DRM free gaming. :D

It's certainly a very strong start for GOG. The more, the merrier. :)

Yeah, and if they do I'm probably going to buy them again. ;) I actually still have to play AC.

That would be really cool to see Arkham Asylum on GOG! I've always wanted to play the PC version!

Very cool to see this game here. A.I flanking techniques is impressive in this especially if you play on Hard difficulty.
