Oddeus: Haha, I misread it as EVE and thought, how the heck did they get EVE Online here?
So many new games here, but this one is the next on my shopping list!
Well... we have EVE Offline :P ... (kind of)

I've never heard of this game. Here's the review from MandaloreGaming, for those like me, if there are any.

Ueber: I really looked forward to a GOG release of EYE:DC.
Unfortunately without the LAN-Multiplayer, I won't buy the game.
There is no reason why they excluded the multiplayer-part of the game. I don't care about a discounted price, but about a cutted game.

Please add LAN/Direct IP and I gladly buy the game at full price.

kud13: Game's drop-in/drop-out co-op was tied to Steamworks, I believe, since the game was a Source mod under the hood.

I'm curious whether this means they also scrapped randomly generated side-quests for each playthrough, replacing them with a more "static" storyline.
I don't care about the steam-tied modes, but as Steam lists local coop and LAN-PvP in the gamecard, it seems to be the case that is was just lazily cutting out the whole multiplayer part.
Nice to see E.Y.E. DC come to GOG.

The SP is bonkers and really fun; some crazy stuff going on in this one.

Though, this here is exactly proves my point on why games should have built-in offline Achievement & profile support right within the actual game itself and engine itself from the original version, as the Steam-version has Achievements (via Steamworks). That way - well, they (the dev's) can just cut or "comment out" the parts of it needing Steam's code, GOG Galaxy's code, or whatever for uploading Achievements; it just does all this stuff straight-up locally to the player while offline.

I should check the Steam-version (since I have it there) but never did really check that version on this - but in that version now, does the single-player solo offline content actually work offline via Steam and its offline mode?

Did the Steam-version of EYE get any updates, since this new SP version's out here on GOG?

Seems odd to remove LAN support in GOG Version, unless it was directly tied to Steamworks...since this is a game using Source Engine and that version used Steamworks.

Getting some "Armello - DRM-Free Editon" flashbacks. I guess this isn't AS bad as that, but I think I'll pass for now...

Lifthrasil: Unless ELFswe is right and they managed to tie LAN to Steamworks too... which would be very stupid, but stupid isn't impossible.
avatar
Gersen: Given that the game uses the sources engine and the source engine is closely integrated with steamwork so it wouldn't be very surprising.
Ah, ok. That's a descent explenation. I mean, LAN should never be tied to a library that can't be shipped with the game.

Loger13: You gain Brouzouf
You gain Brouzouf
You gain Brouzouf
My legs are OK
You gain Brouzouf

The version of the game sold on GOG is a single-player only edition – it means online and LAN modes are not accessible.

Loger13: Has anyone who bought one here actually checked - is the LAN really cut out?
Type in the console

SERVER:
sv_lan 0 // <-- also make sense to try sv_lan 1
heartbeat
changelevel divine_cybermancy

CLIENT:
connect <IP> // <-- IP of created server

Because it is clear why cut out multiplayer through Steam, but why cut the LAN - not very clear.

fronzelneekburm: Nice to see it here! Too bad about the missing multiplayer, but I appreciate that they try to remedy that by making the base price roughly 2 bucks cheaper than the Steam version.

To anyone in the know: How crucial is multiplayer to the overall experience? Is it a main selling point, is it a nice-to-have feature or is it just superfluous fluff that nobody ever used anyway?
avatar
Loger13: The game is fully playable from start to finish in SP mode and no content is lost. However!, you lose the PvP modes (obviously) and the ability to play the campaign in co-op up to 4 players (the campaign is the same as in single player mode). Here is the latter is a pity to lose.
About the PvP - this is why games with skirmish-style competitive modes over maps should have offline support for maps and bots/AI.

The PvP stuff and content just wouldn't go entirely to waste, if this stuff was actually made to work also offline and also had real LAN/TP-ICP support.

Just let the player decide if they want to play online w/ others or offline with bots - you know, like Q3A does. It's a shame when games like say the COD's that come out every year later go to the graveyard b/c the new game's out and nobody's playing the old stuff. It's why we need more TP-ICP support added later for skirmish modes and also offline skirmish mode support, for when a game's MP goes dead - as players can still enjoy that content even w/ bots if nobody else is playing it online.

I'd love to have seen say BioShock 2 get that competitive MP mode made to work offline with bots.

TZODnmr2k5: Wow, I never thought or even considered this game would ever make it over here, as it's using valve's engine! Yet another game that's going into my de-steamed pile!
But...Bloodlines is here?

Alexim: Interesting, but they could have at least put the achievements, with all the things they have removed this seems more like E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy - Castrated Edition.
avatar
Ancient-Red-Dragon: Agreed 100%. No way I'd buy a feature-removed game that treats GOG customers like second-class citizens.

And what is "Single-player edition" supposed to mean? Is that PR speak to spin-doctor the fact that this game has multiplayer on other platforms, but it was also removed from the GOG version? If so, then that's a horrible detriment, not a "benefit" to people who buy this product.
I'm glad to have solo only versions of games here. I rarely play online games. Some achievements can be fun but better than not having the title at all. Another game has been freed by the Steam DRM.
What leaves me more perplexed is the remotion of the French language?!
Very unique release. This masterpiece always brought me some Pathologic vibes, like the voice acting is not great but fun, clunky-esque/unique mechanics made the experience a bit challenging but fun, crazy stuff here and there etc. As I've said, remarkable release.
Has anyone played the game yet?

I've read in the PCGamingWiki that it may have some saving issues on Win10. Has this been fixed?

as in this release or like this game at all? I played it some years ago, it's brilliantly weird :D

Does the Steam version have any French voice acting in it or just fake gibberish as in the English version? Depending on how their original contracts were worded for that kind of stuff, they might simply not have the rights to offer those assets through a store other than Steam.

Yeah the game looked interesting!

But I've read that the older version had some saving issues on Win10. Was that fixed in the GOG version?

We already have Eve offline in our PC though, it's called Excel.
