Top-down tactical team terrorist takedown!

Door Kickers (Windows + Mac + Linux), a real-time action-packed strategy game where you plan and perform SWAT team's tactical interventions, is available on GOG.com for $19.99.

Door Kickers puts you in charge of a SWAT tactical squad and lets you command them during all sorts of raids. Analyze the situation, plan team routes, choose equipment, breach points, and coordinate multiple troopers to reach the hostage room before the bad guys get to press that trigger. It may sound daunting, and like real world CQB combat, it sure is. But most levels can be completed in minutes, and on the fly improvisation works. Achieving the perfect plan for getting the mission done with no false steps, that is a skill not easily mastered.

Lead your SWAT team safely from breach to hostage extraction in Door Kickers--DRM-free, for $19.99 on GOG.com!

No turns, no hexes, no action points or awkward interfaces
Are you kidding ? Nuclear winter is coming ! What will you do then !?

realkman666: It's a mobile game, dude. If not really, at least in spirit. A bit overpriced, obviously.
There are a level editor and a random scenario generator to be fair.

Well, that's cool. I kinda liked the demo, but not fully.

I just watched the gog promotional video, I really don't know more than that. But I would have missed the two points I mentioned if I hadn't. My point is that a good effort has been made replayability wise, that counts for something in my book :-)

Edit : but the tackle at fallout-likes is a sin !!!!

SoanoS: ...maybe give us an Old Game for a change? :(

*goes to sulk in the corner*

tfishell: We got Gex last week.
I guess he wanted a classic game on one of the odd days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

AlienMind: I understand this is probably an indie studio, but for the record: Me and my brother did kick doors in in 1998 in 3D. I don't believe in the hype that everything should be 2D and 3rd person and whatever. Making a 3D first person game (= immersive) can be done, ALSO as indie people. Maybe they refrain from it because they think most people can't live with the low polycount and texture shaders compared to the big productions they then have to work with.
Anyways, I'm glad it isn't stuck at 320x200 like most indies.
You control a squad here not just one person so 2D topdown gives you much more flexibility in controlling your squad. In 3D FP your view will be limited to what you see, you can't control multiple entry points, can't adjust the plan on the go. You could have a 2D topdown view for pause menu and giving orders but I don't think it's gonna fit in with a 3D FP game.

As for the game, I will wait and see how it is. They are aiming for a mobile release I see so if this is some dumbed down strategy game I will pass.

This looks awesome. One question: is the game endless or does it have a campaign with a finite ending?
gotta say what a shitty aesthetic this game has.it makes it look like an average android/ios game.
Now some developer should make a game called "Shit Kickers" and have it be the spiritual successor to Redneck Rampage.
Wow this looks super fun; wishlisted for later.

It's funny, Red Storm Entertainment did all this you are talking about not working in 1998 with Rainbow Six.

About my own thesis about why they're doing it like this... I kinda understand. Today it's not about making groundbreaking stuff, it's about making a reliable "little" game which works on an Android.
That's why for me React OSC is indie GOTY2014. :-)

Sorry, in hindsight it was bad behaviour of me to spam a release of a game I didn't even play so far with general game philosophy thesis... Nothing to see here, move along! :D

Looks rather interesting, but not Ultra-appealing to me!
I'm lured in by the screen shots. The description does nothing for me, but it looks waaaaaay cool and I'll wishlist it.

Yeah I played Rainbow Six. In that you don't control every step and trigger pull of every soldier constantly.

Yes like I said they are aiming for a mobile release so probably not my cup of tea either.
I don't get people complaining "I already bought this on Steam! Give me a release schedule!"

Simple solution: Stop buying games on the DRM platform. It really is that simple. Learn some patience. Ask the dev (sometimes they're willing to tell you). Ask here, sometimes a blue will tell you.

But even then... NEVER buy anything on Steam. It just hurts us all, including yourself, for various reasons. Including this one. Now GOG's not going to be seeing these sales of those who already payed money to rent elsewhere. And the devs are going to see that many more stats on the "Steam" side than the "GOG", weakening the chances of things coming here in the future and strengthening the monopsonistic Steam platform.

And even worse than what you just said are the people that say "i have it on Steam but am buying it to have it here as well...". So now the publishers are like..."hey we can actually get some of these idiots to buy our game TWICE!!! Booooyaaaah!"
