Breja: Also, for his orientation to have any bearing on the show he'd have to also play the Doctor as gay... and for that we'd have to have a romantic partner for him
I know that some of the latter day Old Who and the New Who at the very least hinted at bisexuality, so it wouldn't exactly be a new development. But you are right, attempts to have the Doctor's companions as just more than that have all sucked hard.

And Clara, who was a goddamed Mary Sue.
Ah yes, The SUN that bastion of investigative reporting, integrity, factorials and ...oh wait thats right. Its a rag. Remember Hilsborough everybody?

No wonder the title looks familiar, I actually already have it on the other store somehow.

Also Neon Doctrine is a solid publisher.

Breja:
Its an article from The SUN. Not reliable and they've no doubt used the worst possible images (without paying for them in any way) to rile up their rather nasty readership.

borisburke: The Doctor was always, is, and will be an asexual middle-aged white man. Forcing the character to fit in with modern social values, making the character a spokesperson for whatever political correctness is in vogue, is one of the worse decisions the BBC ever made. I blame R.T. Davis and C. Chibnall.

EDIT: This guy puts it quite well.
Boris, just out of interest, do you see the new series, the reboot from 2005, as a continuation of the same show?

I ask this because I've never been able to see it that way. To me, it seemed like a completely different show that just used some original lore.

I don't mean this as a criticism of 'new Who' -- I just don't see it as the same show at all.

I think I would have preferred it to be framed as about a new Time Lord, leaving the original doctor's character alone.
@Kaigan Games:

Sorry, but this time I won't bite. When you brought Simulacra 2 here I (and several other GOGers) asked you to release Pipe Dreams on GOG since it is available on Steam and is a part of the Simulacra franchise. You posted here in this very forum confirming that you have decided to bring Pipe Dreams to GOG eventually (in the near future) but were unable to give an estimated arrival at this time ... however it was a promise you made.

I was so happy that I did not only purchase Simulacra 2 I also purchased Silmulacra as well which I already owned on Steam ... but I wanted to support such devs and of course DRM-Free. Months went and so after a while I decided to PM you on your discord and ask if there are any news:

Me:
"Hey, I have finished Simulacra 2 which I bought on GOG and enjoyed it a lot. Now of course I am really looking forward to get Pipe Dreams on GOG as well :)
I know that you said that you don't have any ETA when this will happen but since two months have past after your statement I'd like to ask if you have discussed this in the meantime and maybe even have a plan now?"

Kaigan:
"Hi Marko, thanks for reaching out.
Yeah, we have discussed and we will be bringing pipedreams to GOG. However for now we are focused on the new Dr.Who game and SIM3.
So most probably we would only do the implementation after completing the Dr.Who game which should be before the end of the year."

This was in 06/2020

Even more months went by and in 02/2021 I tried it again:

Me
"Hello again
I just read about the SIM2 giveaway and that reminded me that I wanted to ask you of you have any news regarding the ETA of Pipe Dreams on GOG."

Kaigan
"Hi there, yes its still in the works. But as I said, we are focused on wrapping up Dr.Who now and we are in the midst of SIM3 as well. So its gonna take some time before we look at bringing pipedreams to GOG."

Me
"Ah okay, I just asked again because the last information I had was an estimated release near the end of 2020. Just wanted to make sure that it is not forgotten. Looking forward to SIM3 on GOG as well "

Then they released Dr. Who on other platforms (of course it was no day 1 release on GOG) and after that I tried it again. It was the beginning of this month 06/2021:

"Hello once again.
Dr. Who has been released and I am aware that you are already working on SIM3. Do you also have news regarding the timeframe when you might add Pipe Dreams to GOG? See, I was disappointed after buying SIM1 on GOG that pipe dreams wasn't released there. Then SIM2 came and I wanted to buy it but there still was this issue with pipe dreams not being released there. After it has been confirmed that it will come evetually to GOG I decided to buy SIM2 as well. It would be great if pipe dreamns was added to GOG before SIM3 will be released - it would make my decision to buy SIM3 as well so much easier. I really don't want to push you at all (although I am quite sure that it probably feels this way to you) - I am just a big fan of the SIM games and would love to own them all on GOG which is my favorite platform.
Stay safe and sorry for the wall of text (I just wanted to explain myself a bit)."

No reply at all ... and now another Kaigan Games release here on GOG that expects me to buy. I already gave additional money to Kagain because I trusted them. Now it is A YEAR AND THREE MONTHS later and instead of Pipe Dreams they ask me for money for another game. Sorry - this time I will wait until you stayed true to your promise and brought Pipe Dreams here before spending any more money.

low rated
I got in Dr Who with the news series and got lost somewhere along the 11th doctor, that series seems to be going down the drain ages before a Lady took the principal role.

I really like A lost phone, Simulacria was fine enough and this could be enjoyable but I'll wait for some reviews.

That said...

*clear throats*

This thread is a cesspool of far right incels. F*ck you all very much.

MarkoH01: ...
If it's released on Steam, it shouldn't be a problem to "bring it" on GOG, what are they talking about?

I understand that it might be a bit more problematic since Pipe Dreams on Steam does use Steam DRM and is unable to run without the client. So they would have to create a new build and upload it here. When they announced that they would do it they already said that it might take a bit. Small studio, many projects ... Pipe Dreams won't earn them any money. However I do agree that it is hard to believe that this really has to take over a year ... also I would not call this "in the near future" (which is what they said ... and we still don't know when or even if Pipe Dreams will arrive on GOG).

Arg, using steamworks from the ground up is kind of a trap, if you don't architecture your project well and have steam code calls everywhere in the code then it is hard to extract everything and replace it with something else...

Still, their fault...

Darvond: And Clara, who was a goddamed Mary Sue.
Absolutely. I never much liked her, and by the time she left I goddamn hated her. Not just the worst companion I know, but just one of the worst characters I know. Not just in Doctor Who. Anywhere. She makes Jar-Jar look subtle and likeable. And she got three season plus special episodes.

And then she got replaced with Bill, one of my favorite companions ever. And she only got to be on the show for one damn season.

I thought Clara was quite enjoyable in her initial appearances alongside Smith, but she should never have been brought back for Capaldi's run, she was clearly writers pet and definitely overstayed her welcome.

Honestly, I would love to see a new Doctor to be played by black actor. Just for him to say "I had an upgrade", like Wittaker did. So creators would openly admit their views on race.

BanditKeith2: Its not sexist to hate the direction the series has went

StingingVelvet: The quality of the series in general is an entirely separate conversation from "ewww the Doctor is a lady!" I stopped watching it because the writing sucks.
I stopped watching because of her three companions. I like Jodie Whitaker and she is a charming Doctor ... even if she is portrayed too inept at times. But the companions are just a boring, annoying bunch without much character depth. And yes, the writing sucks. Jodie is given bad scripts that you can only do so much with.

There were always ups and downs in the quality of writing. But after being consistently bored for an entire season, I stopped watching. Instead, I wait for the showrunners and writers to be replaced with someone competent. Perhaps the series will get better again, in time.

Yep. That would work. I just hope that they give that actor something to work with and some companion that is a bit more than just a flat character.

Actually, when they first announced that the Doctor would become female, I had hoped they would combine it with the other long awaited feature: being a ginger. And I hoped for Emma Thompson. She would have made a great Doctor!

Same here. I liked her initially. She was cute and charming and funny. ... But then she turned full Mary Sue and got boring and annoying.

My favourite companions, so far, are Rose and Donna Noble. Followed by Sarah Jane.

Ginger? Folks like Chibnell hate gingers. Just look at other franchises - they replaced every ginger female character that they could get their hands on with a black one.
