War. War sometimes changes. For the better.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, the ultimate version of War's apocalyptic adventure against the forces of Heaven and Hell, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 80% launch discount.

Can the Apocalypse look beautiful? Well, in Darksiders: Warmastered Edition it does! All the texture resolutions have been doubled, the shadows are now rendered in higher quality, post-processing effects have been added, and the game runs smoother than ever.

Unfortunately, War doesn't have time to stop and admire the sights: Earth is a bloody mess, with Angels and Demons still battling each other, locked in an eternal struggle for power. The first rider of the Apocalypse is wrongfully accused for letting this happen, but he's not about to sit idly and see the world burn. Armed with an impressive arsenal, his trusty steed Ruin, his incredible platforming skills, and his penchant for combat, he is determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice. And this time, his epic adventure will look better than ever!

Join War's apocalyptic fight to clear your name in the spectacular-looking Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 80% discount also applies to Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition and will last until December 2, 5:59 PM UTC.

Note: This edition is free for anyone who already owns Darksiders. Buying Warmastered Edition will also give you the original version as a free bonus.

Perhaps this should be mentioned somewhere on the gamecard, yes? =)

tremere110: So - the original one is now gone from my account and has been replaced with the Warmastered version.

Grargar: It's possible that the installer contains both versions (like the first Trine).
Wow, that's a huge install - was it really that big last time? Don't really want to download the whole thing just to check it out. Maybe someone else will? Or a blue?

[EDIT] Aaaaaand got ninja'd by a blue :)

Enjoy enjoy enjoy, our friends of War! :)

And yeah - no region restrictions :) please contact your friendly GOG support if that happens ;)

Thiev: Original installer will be available with a slight (~1h) delay. It will contain all languages bundled into one setup and you will be able to download it from extras section.
For Galaxy users, it will be possible to switch to public 'legacy' branch and download it from there.
Oh, OK then.

Ixamyakxim: I don't own the game but I'm guessing under the "Extras" tab (if you're like me and use the web-based downloads).

Everyone always forgets about the extras dropdown box ;)
I have a 'More' dropdown, but I don't see an 'Extras' dropdown.
Nice, was hoping for a sale on the second one as well though.

Oh thank you! Also thank you for allowing us to keep the original in case the new one doesn't work for us for some reason. BTW - any chance of allowing the same thing for Darksiders 2? Letting people who own the Deathfinitive edition access to the original would be great!

This is exactly how remasters should be handled. Only sell the remastered version, but have it grant access to both the remastered and original versions. Hopefully if we ever get the Bioshock games and Skyrim they'll be handled the same way.

Much thanks! Reminder, still waiting for Red Faction Guerrilla. :P

There's a Darksiders Franchise sale on Steam at the moment, perhaps GOG will do the same in the next couple of hours?

This is all cleared up with the post directly above your own, but I was aware of where to look for it and it simply isn't there.

They did and it will be added in the future.

Oh nice, I hope so.
Played this years ago... what would be the point?

Especially if I'm asked to pay for it. :P

Original was a decent game though.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you. You're a good man, my dear Sir, and you did a good work for this poor old gaming soul. ;-)

Now, I will wait with patience. Btw. if you're on the way to talk nice things, do you know if there will be a Darksiders 2 sale as well?

And if we could get Spellforce in German, I would buy those too ...

Yeah, many wishes, but it's christmas soon, isn't?
