Europe goes to war.

Cossacks II Anthology, a grand strategy inspired by historical events, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Our fair planet has never lacked for mass-scale conflict, but the 19th century European wars were truly a sight to behold. The nations of France, Russia, Prussia, Austria, Egypt, Duchy of Warsaw, Confederation of the Rhine, and Great Britain got locked in an extensive series of conflicts that forever changed the shape and power balance in the continent. As a commanding general of one of the warring nations, you will take control of massive armies and try to neutralize the enemy forces in real-time combat before they can fight back. As you rise in ranks, more and more types of troops will become available, and if you feel like re-creating some of history's most iconic skirmishes, like the Battle of Austerlitz or the Battle of Ulm, this is your chance to see how you'd fare, general.

Re-write european history and lead your huge armies to victory in the European battlefields of Cossacks II Anthology, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% discount will last for the duration of the Back to School Sale.

Matruchus: You should get a install Direct Play window when you are installing the game.

Narakir: I tried with both Galaxy and regular download, no direct play window.
Well, for me reinstalling windows helped, so not sure what caused the problem before.

It should open in the back of the installer. It will just pop up like a new windows behind the installer. If that doesn't happen then try verifying install, sometimes that fixes the problem.
FPS is extremly low. Is this known problem?

I'm afraid it is and has yet to be fixed
Cossacks 2 is unplayable for me at this moment. Game started well on Win 10. But I have a serious problem with frame drops. Game work on 10-15 FPS... This need som fix on Win 10. It's possible it will be some patch?

I tested Cossacks II on my Windows 10 laptop and it ran really poorly. On my Windows 7 machine it runs flawlessly. It's something in Windows 10 that makes it run as bad as it does. That's why I won't install Windows 10 on my main machine, ever. There's just too much problems with games, especially older ones.

GOG focuses on old games so I hope they fix it. I don't reinstall Windows for Cossacks. I own both games on Steam and GOG too. On Steam I even do not start the game on W10. So the support is better here on GOG. I hope that GOG does not disappoint his name and bring good old games to modern PCs.
I'm pretty disappointed with Cossacks 3 and i want to play this older masterpiece.
the problem is you are all playing on win10 laptops, game doesnt see powerful videocard so gives 10 fps on any settings. On pc with win10 cossacks 2 run fine

Yes, I play on laptop. But for Cossacks I set powerful graphic card in driver, not the integrated. But it did not help. Can I fix it somehow? Can I trick the game that is running on a desktop PC?

yeah I set it too and it doesnt work, game just doesnt see it and keeps constant 7-10 fps on any graphic settings. I tried to find solution long time ago and nothing

So, with that theory laptops "usually" having 2 graphics cards, people need to force the game to start with the on-board graphics card.

the solution doesn't work. also, it happens exactly the same on my other laptop with windows 10 and with only 1 graphics card.

the issue is tied directly to windows 8 and 10, as it will not happen with dual graphics card laptops with windows 7.

Oh, ok, that sucks, hope they fix this eventually
I watched videos on Youtube to see how the new 'engine' playes, they overhauled it compared to the classics, thats why i wont get it, i liked the old graphics better, to bad cause it would have fitted nicely next to the classics.

Well, their focus has shifted more to promoting DRM-free rather than "old games that run on modern machines" (hence why GOG doesn't mean "Good Old Games" anymore), but I do hope you guys get this sorted out.
