Lodium: Il wait until the discount is off and then pay full price to support the devs.
There is no discount. This is a free game. It's relatively short, and does a bit of double duty: it demo's the engine for their upcoming game Beautiful Desolution, and it demo's the STASIS universe for those who don't already own STASIS.

It's not a discount, as I said a few posts back, it's to promote the next games, kickstarter, and is demonstrating the new engine, they'll use.

I'm surprised it's not mentioned in the GOG announcement, but it's in the game, and on the Steam version.
Here's a link to the Kickstarter.

If you want to support the devs, back the Kickstarter instead, Cayne isn't being sold, it's free.

UhuruNUru: While selling content such as this is more acceptable, when the game is free, in this particular case, it's a mistake, as they need backers, more than the cash, just now, and splitting the support up, may backfire on them
You assume they need backers more than cash. Perhaps they really need both, at which point, this is a great way of getting some short term cash, and drumming up hype for the campaign.

It may backfire on them, but really, they're over 60% funded half way through, so odds are good this will be a successful campaign.

Planes? What planes?

Kudos for releasing it here GOG. You generally are reluctant to release free games.

goglin: thanky you GOG and Brotherhood :)
ditto - instant pick up for me, also a backer of stasis and beautiful desolation
Today I allowed myself some extravagance: CAYNE Deluxe.

I'm enjoying it. :)
Well this was a bit embarrassing. I always feel awkward grabbing a free game if it's something I have no intention of ever playing, so I decided to peruse the game page to see if this was something that would interest me. I saw that Cayne was set in the same world as Stasis, which I remember as that survival horror type game from 2 years ago that I didn't care about. So I was about to pass on Cayne as well. However the screen shots didn't look anything like what I remembered about Stasis. It looked like the developer had completely changed game play styles, which seemed odd. That's when I realized that I have been confusing Stasis with a totally different game this entire time.

So thanks GOG for both the free game and the original that I'm picking up now!
Thanks for the Game (or demo), can't wait to give it a go.
GOG's generosity continues. Thank you!
Is this the STASIS secuel and continues the story or it's a game apart?. Thank you GOG and the dev team! ^_^

It's a side story (prequel?) in the same settings if I understood correctly.

Thanks, Brotherhood. Looks like you gave me reason to power up my gaming PC for the first time in three weeks or so. My Mac mini isn't up to snuff for this one. I guess the shift to 3D character modeling and new effects make a big enough impact.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing it once I do find the time.
Many thanks to the developer of this game for making it available free of charge here on gog!
