Encore, encore!

The Bard's Tale Trilogy remastered is now DRM-free on GOG.com.
Fine-tune your lutes, adventurers! 'Tis time to sing again the tales of Skara Brae. The place where evil took hold, nearly extinguishing all life, all hope. That very same place where the legend of the six heroes began, only this time with high-res graphics that maintain the originals' tone, audio for spells and attacks, plus certain quality of life improvements like an automap and tooltip popups, among others.

Cusith: The email they send does detail the needed actions but still just adds to my dislike of CrowdOx, there is pretty much nothing I like about it.
ya i kinda hated the process as well - tooke me like 1 or 2 minutes longer than it should have. Also is always a bit contra intuitive "restarting" the survey
This brings back old memories, particularly one where I lent my game to this kid who I thought was ok and he stole it. I saw him once more and told him i`d smash his face in if he didn`t return it. Never saw him again. I didn`t know his address or anything much about him. Git. It`s always annoyed me for decades.

Those were the days when I used to trust everyone at face value and just give away things. Not any more.

Guess I can get it back now...

Djaron: Someone will have to explain me:

Why is this considered a release, and not an "in dev" game... I mean, it says that only 1st ârtpf the trilogy is available, that 2nd part will be released in fall, last part in inter, and somehow later but date unknown, the legacy versions will be finally added.
It isn't considered in dev, as the first game of the series is a full, complete game. While they do plan to add to it, later on, the game itself can be played from start to the end and as such, it should have all the thing the original version had plus the intended enhancements.

The promise of release of the second two games doesn't make this in dev game, it just means, that there will be an additional release of the two other games down the line.

Now, had they released the first game incomplete, then it definitely would be in dev, but as that isn't the case, I don't see why it should be called in dev just because they are working on the two other games in the trilogy as well. Or do you call Marvel movies in dev because you know there's more movies in the line?

I don't see it as any different from Telltale Games releases which aren't "in dev". Consider it episodic.

Oh and I think its not the legacy games that are getting added at a later date it is legacy mode which will remove the modern helpers and whatever.

wait wait wait... that means if i am an early backer, i still need to buy some DLCs to get the originally runding goals/campaign advertised game content on base version, right ?

well as the old saying teaches us: "fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice... shame on me"

dtgreene: Wait, how did *that* typo appear when you were trying to type "part"? That's a new one. And how come the accent ended up there, seeing as how said accent is not something you typically see in English (and which can't be easily typed on a US English keyboard)?
just saw it and... well... i really dont have any idea how to explain it, honestly... :( except maybe i am mostly typing in the dark without a backlit keyboard, and i thing that on starting a new word, i may had started the key striking pattern just slightly too much on the right or left...

That happen a lot to me... usually spot it when rereading the text before poasting. This one slipped away from my watch...

like the word "happen" will become "je^^r,"

Though, about how the acccent ended there, it can be because of one simple reason at least: not every of us are native glorious citizens of the allmighty USA and have keyboards tailored to our own home languages... Even if some of us barbarians can babble some clumsy english.
Now if you excuse me, i'll have to go and try to apply for my greencard !

Fairfox: but... its sold as trilogy. if it was sold liek as uuuh 1 gamie + others later then mebbe, mebbe. buuut it aint

so stands 2 reason other 2 titles r still in development rite
sooo
taht means it should b labeled as 'in dev'
becaaause it is
becaaaaaaause it sold as trilogy
If episodic games aren't sold in dev, then BT Trilogy remastered shouldn't be sold that way either.

There wasn't paid DLC for Torment. They did release free DLC for it later on that added some of the content that was originally planned but cut.

Fairfox: episodic gamies r multi-parts of single (eventual lee cohesive) gamie /slash/// title; its grater than teh sum of its parts
this is trilogy. each gamie might bleed in2 others, obvs, buuut they r (an' were original lee sold as) standalone titles. episodes need moar 4 full xperience
soooo i disagree
trilogy seppy gamies. seppy gamies taht r still bein' devlied
in dev
Then consider it a season pass if episodic doesn't do it for you.
This dlc is done and now there are two more substantial dlc and an additional mode dlc that works on all three to come.
I just wanted to congratulate InXile on this great modernization. Good work! They managed to keep the spirit and atmosphere of the original and add to it, by making modernizations, that support that atmosphere. For example the city is just a bit more interesting visually and it snows (well according to the story). Or the flickering torchlight in the dungeon- nice. Also the quality of life improvements are nicely done, especially the automap function that even maps set encounters and has a good minimap overlay mode - great. Long review short: I like this release of BT very much and can strongly advise anyone who is remotely interested in it to get it, it is very good!

Thanks for your opinion!
I wasn't awaiting the Bard's Tale IV and didn't know that inXile works on the classic trilogy. I get to know that here on GOG. And I'm very interested in playing remastered version, it ideally fits my plan to replay all classic crpgs. This one was no-big-hope for me - because of lack of modern features I expected I'd not be able to finish the game and - wow - here inXile comes with this release. You post makes me sure that I want to take part in this adventure, thank you!
