Nice to see this on GOG at the same time as everyone else!

For all you JRPG fans out there, I'd highly recommend you check this one out. Yes, it's RPG Maker, but don't disregard it because of that. Kamichichi makes some really enjoyable JRPGs with RPG Maker, and based on my experience with 'Apostle' and 'Island SAGA', I can say with a lot of confidence that you'll get dozens of hours of great turn-based JRPG gameplay.

And please remember to download the Unrated Patch here on GOG if you're interested in such content. While the previous games that I mentioned above would still all be enjoyable without the very high quality "spicy content", these are adult JRPGs at heart, and that's where a lot of the appeal is going to be for folks.

Anyways, I hope some of you will give 'Apostle: Rebellion' a chance and enjoy the game!

And just to note - You do NOT need to have played 'Apostle' to enjoy this title. It's a fully enjoyable game standalone.

All the women in the video save one look like they've had quite a bit of breast enlargement surgery.

Aesthetically, I find it rather unappealing to look at. I wish they didn't do that (erotic game or not).

Kamichichi, the developers of the game, are a large breast loving circle. So that's why you see the character designs that you do. Usually they'll have a main girl in the game with a smaller chest, but the focus is obviously where it is.

It won't be for everyone, and unfortunately it sounds like the game just isn't intended for you, which is totally okay!

Just to add, I've been playing a little bit tonight and was really impressed by the production values going on here. It's really quite good, in fact. Highly recommend JRPG fans check it out, but as you see above, anyone who's offended by or doesn't like large and very large anime booba should probably stay away!

Yeah, its a shame because otherwise the setting looks vaguely interesting (a lot of those ero games look flat, but that one looks like a game).

However, aesthetically, I just can't suspend my disbelief thinking "ok, she's fighting effectively with those huge things sticking out of her chest and flapping around?". At a certain point, it just kind of look dysfunctional to me.

Offensive is not so much the right word as just... dysfunctional and aesthetically off I guess. Not well adapted to survive and thrive in nature and something that natural selection would cull out from the gene pool I suppose. That is what comes to mind.

I can say it's definitely a game. The setting is really quite interesting also if you like a cyberpunk type of theme. There's a lot of style to the game. I really don't get impressed often by RPG Maker games, but I'm really pleased with this one. You can tell very early that there's a lot of production values put into making a good adult JRPG game here.

I'm sorry you don't like it, but like I said, Kamichichi is a large breast loving circle. I mean, I'd say try to not worry about something like suspension of disbelief and "natural selection", and instead just enjoy the game for what it is. It's an adult anime JRPG that is set in a cyberpunk universe. If large breasts are gonna ruin it for you when you have all this other stuff going on, then I don't know what to say except you're not part of the intended audience.

Yeah, I wasn't insinuating that you were offended by large breasts or anything here, so my apologies if you took it that way. That part of my post was a general comment to others looking at the game and why it was sectioned off. I do think it's safe to say that you don't like large anime breasts, however.

I agree with Magnitus here, this game looks neat in terms of what is shown of the setting, story, and music. I also like the way the characters are rendered and designed. But the bountiful baps are a bit too abundant for me, so I'll be passing.

Glad to see the release for those who are into big jubblies! Glad GOG is able to cater to all kinds of groups.

Just like forum threads now have prefixes/tags to avoid wasting the time of forumers uninterested in [forum games] or [giveaways], could you please add a [porn] tag to these releases and announcements ? It's a bit annoying to keep checking out what is expected to be a new game title and realize that it's just yet another porn VN thingy.

Movie shops have a dedicated section for different reasons. One of them is to make browsing less tedious for people who are looking for actual movies.

How about a [YAPN]? It's short and absurdly precise as to the definition of Yet Another Pornographic Novel.

Of course, I'd take things a notch further and go full [url=https://safebooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/howto:tag]Booru[/url] on GOG, having the tags curated, moderated, and greatly expanded upon, so we could blacklist games that match a particular tag and never have to see a game with "Questionable Consent" again.

Don't you think you're being a bit overdramatic?

It is a new game release here on GOG and it deserves the same treatment as any other release thread. It's also clearly marked with a warning about certain content, so if you don't like it then you can easily move along. The warned content is also optional in this case so...

Anyways, it's no different than seeing other release posts every week on GOG and discovering you're not interested in the game. That happens to me literally all the time here. The horror and annoyance of losing ~30 seconds from clicking on a release post from GOG advertising a new product that released on their shop...

It's not a "new game". There are a lot of new games I'm not interested in for many reasons, but are always worth checking out, in a "hey, a new game, what is it about" way. But when a new title is announced and you get rickrolled into a porn VN, it simply feels like entering another shop. It's a different object with a whole different function. I can dislike a random platformer or racer, but it's still, like a RTS, meant to be enjoyed without a dick in one hand and a kleenex in another, so I can understand why a videogame shop asks us if we're interested in it. And actually, there is also a difference between featuring sexual content (in a book, movie, song, game) and being a porn product. Again, not the same function.

I understand GOG makes money with that, and it's legitimate and not even in contradiction with curation. Again, I've known a video shop owner who was an avid cinephile, but admitted that his shop was making profit thanks to its backroom porn videos. That's what allowed him to curate the real movies and sell them at decent price. But still, he had them separated. We could browse movies without getting "anal underage princesses 7" between "the godfather" and "broken flowers".

Right now, gog just mixes up apples and oranges. And honestly for dumb reasons : it branches out to porn, okay, but doesn't assume it - as the reluctant and euphemistic tags show. It's certainly convenient for some customers' self-definition ("i'm, uh, buying a videogame, because it, er, the gameplay is interesting"), but it's mildly inconvenient for those who peruse gog as a videogame store.

Because "apostle: rebellion" would have sounded kinda cool for a real game's title. But nope. We're not in the real game section here. We're in the boobs slideshow section. Surprise.

(Actually, GOG had the same problem a while ago, wen it tried to branch into movies. You saw a new title, went "hey cool, haven't heard of that game" and "oh, it's just a short film". But at least they kept the shops separated.)

I'd suggest GoG to be more explicit on the tag of "adult content" to save GoG's customer's time and/or picque their interest up. It'd result in better customer experience and likely better sales. Or at least give better pointers, be it a post in the game's GoG forum?

Who tells you this can't? Prejudice? Did you play it? Do you even know what you are talking about or are you just guessing? I don't know the game as well but from what TomNuke said, who actually PLAYED the game, it is much more than just what you are accusing it to be.

Also, the OP clearly states "adult content" which GOG usually only adds when games might contain sexual content as well so I really don't understand where the problem is.

Eh, not really. While I have no quarry or quarter* with the releases, even the most sleazy video store bothered to put up some clear marker that you were going to enter the adult section.

As Telika mentions, this game puts a different image to mind than yet another budget looking Kagura Games publication with absurdly massive baps. (We have over 20 now.) There are no early Christians and none of them appear to be rebelling. (Plus, can't GOG throw us buttock lovers a bone and give us something with Riendonut sized backspaces?)

*Okay, so they do look a bit like free porn games I'd have found on Newgrounds in 2004...you know, the kind the Retsupurae channel covered, because they were shoddily made, brainless, and pointless.

I tried looking for reviews of it, but unsurprisingly none exist for it, go figure.
