The call of adventure beckons!

Set out to sea and become a Corsair in Al-Qadim: The Genie’s Curse, a new Dungeons & Dragons action-RPG coming DRM-free to GOG.com

You are the youngest son of a Noble Merchant and an easy life lies ahead - but alas, your soul yearns for adventure and the affections of Kara, the Caliph’s beautiful daughter! You set out to sea, as only becoming a Corsair can grant you her hand in marriage.

Al-Quadim: The Genie's Curse brings the D&D formula into a never-before-seen-in-a-D&D-video-game setting, and features plenty of twists on the classic gameplay. Gone is the endless dungeon crawl; instead - players will embark on a puzzle-filled adventure. Gone is the monster-killing XP grind; instead - you'll be rewarded by solving puzzles and progressing the story. It's a unique proposition in the D&D world, and certainly one worth trying.

Explore the seas and the scorching desert sands in Al-Qadim: The Genie’s Curse, another DRM-free AD&D release on GOG.com.

Tune in to Twitch.tv/GOGcom on Monday, September 21st at 2pm GMT / 4pm CEST / 10am EDT to see Classicor, our resident D&D specialist, show off this title live.
yeah i remember this game lol the starting part of the game was rough with some heavy solving , i think got lost somewhere later in the game
I also played this years ago when it came out. Quite enjoyed it, although for the life of me I can't remember what made this a D&D game. I don't remember any stats or classes or races to create my character. Am I just forgetting something?

The setting is a pretty big part of it.
Nice release! : )
Wishlisted.
I grabbed Al-Qadim earlier today and i'm looking forward to play it over the weekend.

My Speedlink SL-6555-SBK joypad works fine with it and fortunately the cluebook is also included so i'm all set. :D
How about you try to get the other genie games on GoG. Or rather half genie ;)
This should have been a part of the Forgotten Realms collections. Al Quadim takes place in the Forgotten Realms, after all. Seems GoG didn't do their homework.
I have warned it in the forum, in the review, and I should do it here :)

The original game has a bug related to the processor speed. In the beginning, when you come back to the village for the trial of your family, if the dosbox cycles are too high your family gets stuck going to the plaza, so the game kind of freezes. The solution is to lower the cycles in that part quite a lot. And then raise them again, once that part is over.

And save often, of course.

EDIT: and thanks for this. One of my most favourite games.

Is this bug still present in the GOG version? They removed the copy protection so maybe this bug has also been fixed.

But thanks for the tip! I'll see if this bug is still present in the GOG version and report back once i'm through that part of the game.
Wow, I never thought I'd see this game again! I've quite missed it, since I thought it was pretty special way back when I first played it. Thanks a ton, GOG, this is an amazing release!
Finally, this game is here in GOG! I remember having played it a few years ago, and although I didn't advance much, I liked it.

Wishlisted.

I finally played Al-Qadim a bit and apparently this bug is not present in the GOG version which runs at max 100% cycles by default. My family ran to the Qadi for the trial without getting stuck and the game didn't freeze.

I only played 3-4 hours so far but i lke the game and i'm looking forward to play through it.

Fever_Discordia: Spelljammer and Buck Rogers? Non?
Would love to see Buck Rogers. Unfortunately there could be an issue:
