How about some more?
-Guardian's Crusade (A PS1 game that fell hard under the radar for some reason. It's made to be a bit more introductory but it definitely pulls some twists that everyone will enjoy. You fight as yourself and your big pink monster which you sort of raise, along with the ability to pull out toy soldiers of sorts.)
-Mega Man Battle Network (Mega Man of all things had an RPG? Yeah! It's a very different hybrid of card game, strategy RPG, and action. It takes a while to get used to, but once you do it has an addictive quality to it. Which is nice because there are 7 games plus different versions of every game from 3 onward like Pokemon did. And people also still play multiplayer and organize their own tourneys. The plot is absolutely dumb sometimes, but if you like long-running anime you'll appreciate it's charms.)
-Bahamut Lagoon (A Strategy RPG where every battle is more like a round in your typical RPG. It also involves lots of dragons. You need a translation patch.)
-Live-A-Live (A game that tried to do something different and succeeded. You pick a scenario at the beginning in any order, and every one of them plays differently. For example, the western one has you setting up traps all around to capture the bad guys writing in to kill everyone. The battle system grid-based and also unexpectedly flexible to the scenario's needs. You'll need a translation patch.)
