OK, so I fully understand that GOG isn't just going to transfer my full 150 game Steam Library to GOG for free, that's a bit too much to ask.

As far as I can tell, Connect is a sort of "amnesty" program, where devs let GOG give a free copy to people who already own that game on Steam. That's why games are available for claim for a limited time.

The only thing I'm confused with is the list of games that are/were available. The games currently on the "unavailable" list are LIMBO, Baldur's Gate I and II, Darkest Hour, For the Glory, Homeworld (+remaster), INSIDE, >observer_, Outlast, Perception, Punch Club, Rebel Galaxy, Rogue Wizards, Sengoku, Sunless Sea, Tahira, The Final Station and Zombie Night Terror. Of all of those, I only own LIMBO, which GOG let me claim, and I was lucky enough to get Grim Fandango Remaster for free, which I also own on Steam.

So let me get this straight: every now and then, games will be available to transfer from Steam to GOG (for a limited time), and after that, they won't be available anymore. Or will they become available again, just at a different time? For example, if a friend gifts me Baldur's Gate II on Steam, and I wanted to connect it to GOG, I probably couldn't do it now because it's shown as unavailable. Or would it get bumped up to the "Your available games"?

I'm basically asking "what did I miss so far", in a way, but I'm also trying to understand how/when GOG Connect works.

The FAQ is kind of confusing to be honest:

- GOG Connect is a service employed by GOG which allows you to link your Steam account with your GOG account and subsequently get GOG copies of the Steam games you own. At varying times, usually indicated by a news post, you can go to the GOG Connect page, located here, and follow the instructions on the page.
- GOG Connect games are not available forever. After a set period of time, you can no longer redeem whatever games were being offered on your GOG account. The deadline should be mentioned in the news post which has indicated what GOG Connect games are available. If not, it is possible that the staff has not assigned a deadline yet. Contact support or a staff member and ask.

What's this news post and where can I find it?

- If there are no games available, check to see whether the deadline on the games has passed. If so, there will be nothing available until the next offer. GOG Connect has not necessarily been abandoned. Sometimes there can be a few months in between offers.

Where exactly do I check this?

The games on the GOG Connect page would be available if you have them on Steam and GOG is aware of this. If GOG is not aware of this make sure your privacy setting on your Steam profile is set to public and then push the refresh button located on the GOG Connect page. Gog will then send a new request to look at your games to Steam and will update the list of games you can claim accordingly. Just know that GOG will only let you send a scan request once every two hours, so if you just sent a request while your Steam profile was still set to private, you'll have to wait for a couple of hours before you can send another request.

You can find all the ones you've missed in this thread:

You can also find most of them here:

In the afore mentioned news post (in this case it lasts for the entirety of the sale).

Thank you SO much, this cleared up a lot. And I found out I could add my retail copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl too, so I did!

TBH I didn't really miss much, I think the only games I have on Steam and I missed so far were (at a glance) Unreal Gold and UT99 GOTY, Saint's Row IV and Hotline Miami. Very reassuring, so thanks again.

Just so I'm 100% sure about missed games: I noticed some games being offered more than once, I saw Metro 2033, Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Saint's Row IV offered twice, so if I miss a game once, there's still a chance I can get it at some later point, right?

There is a chance, but not a certainty. And you're welcome. :)

I wish The Witness would go back on Connect.
So nice to have a GOG copy. *wistful sigh*
