Technobabylon, the cyberpunk Wadjet Eye adventure, is available for pre-order now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Wadjet Eye, the prestigious paragons of pixelated-but-modern point-and-click adventure game hits, are back with yet another exciting release. In Technobabylon the adventure is set in a dystopian future where genetic engineering is basic surgery, and a good day is a day on Trance. Enter a city controlled by an all-knowing Artificial Intelligence and a terryfing police force, and take control of the game's three protagonists: Charlie Regis, a rogue agent of the secret police force; Latha Sesame, a jobless Trance-addict; and Max Lao, a woman torn between her past and future. Together they'll have to unravel the dangerous secrets of a high-tech society that functions just barely.

Pre-ordering the game right now means a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, and its batch of goodies when the game is released:
-- Full soundtrack
-- Recording session video
-- Production art gallery (concepts, 3D models, full-size portraits, etc.),
-- Technobabylon Codex (PDF with backstory)
-- Poster art wallpaper

Pre-order Technobabylon, the retro cyberpunk adventure, now on GOG.com! The game is expected to launch on May 20, 2015.
Unlike Golden Wake - the only Wadjet Eye game I've felt kind of indifferent about thus far - this may merit a purchase at the time around its release again... or slightly before that. ;)

FearfulSymmetry: Well, there goes my gaming budget for the month!
Yikes! $15 is your monthly gaming budget? My condolences.

Haha, well I already spent another 15 yesterday as well, and there was the GOG sale earlier ... Unfortunately, I'm a student with a tight budget, and I'm currently trying to limit my spending on games a little bit. :P
Game looks good, but wasn't a fan of the trailer. Not a big fan of dialog being played out of context like that. The important thing is it's another game from Wadjet Eye and they have a superb track record so I will get it at some point.

FearfulSymmetry: snip
I figured as much, but I couldn't help myself from making a remark. That said, if you preorder now you'll have more money to spend next month again. Fudging with numbers is fun! ;)

Yes! Cheating with numbers is the way to go! And I already preordered, I just can't resist Wadjet Eye. ;)
This looks pretty cool, like a throwback to '90s point and click games.
It sure looks tempting. Will give it full consideration when it's released. I'm not that interested in the goodies anyway...
Looks like a great concept. Though I know Wadjet Eye is always about retro low res, I really wish this one was a little bit more high res. Something similar to Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall maybe.

I'll eventually get it. My Wadjet Eye backlog is a bit too large right now.
HYPE!
A new Wadjet Eye adventure? Not really a matter of if, but when.
mmm? just searched youtube on it and voila some people already played something

she mentioned a shocking 'scene' images or so ingame... well i only check for nasty lighing/lightning effects, 3d turning, weird sounds and the like, cause these can give me trouble (motionsickness/photosenistivity)
i dont get anything problems if a guy whacks himself or another ingame or in a movie (only ingame effects disturb my eyes and motion).

sofar it looks like it doesnt have any nasty effects in it, im still looking for more videos before i can decide if i buy it.
I have a golden wake (still need to play it like 40 other games (mainly collecting games and play them (much) later

i saw plenty of good new games on GOG, unfortunately none of these are my kind of game, (no starwars for me, no 3d games, no jprg and other weird platforms)
but maybe this weird adventure might be a purchase, but i have to see the rest first before i buy.

i have some other weird games: the shiva, that game with 4 episodes, blackwell and more of these, all of them are pixel game like maniac mansion and zack mckraken type.

Well, The Shivah and the Blackwell games are by the same developer, so if you enjoyed those, you might enjoy this one as well. And why exactly are they 'weird'? :P

yup, i am already googling the web for as much info (videos walkthroughs as possible cause i need to see what kind of 'effects' it has... its a weird game so it is possible there are weird lighting and other effects used in the game.(photosensitivity/motionsickness)
like i said earlier in the forst post, i dont care if they shoot all the guys in a game, or some dude whacks himself, afterall its a game :P

if it turns out okay, i might add it, 14,19 EUR is a nice price for this kind of game

a blue ghost that walks with a girl in that 4 part adventure thats weird
then the guy at an operating table or something like that, thats also quite weird...
i like that ,
i am mainly checking games for possible things that might affect my motionsickness/photosensitivity, if these are non existing, i dont really care what the story is about :P
Every game has its good points.
FPP 3d however is not my cup of tea, so no starwars for me, no lego, no batman, no GJPRG with these cute dolls running in a 3d world if i only see it on video i get seasick.
So i have to be carefull in what i play... thats why i have only 333 games and these includes a lot of 'stinkers' but these were needed cause some (mutator promo) gave me the nice adventure at a good price: Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav, The

So sometimes you buy dirt in order to get a very good game at a good sale :P
I think i have roughly 20 or maybe 30 stinkers in my collection (vertical drop heroes(motion sickness)
but these helped me getting good sales (bundles) so sometimes in order to get them at a good price i buy a bundle of 8 games with 3 to 4 stinkers in it :P in order to get the favoraites i want at a good price.

But this also applies for retail casual games buy 4 or 5 games , (4 or 5 cds) at 15 bucks total ,or pay 6 bucks for each single game if you dont buy the package.
buying four at single price is expensive, so you buy the whole and dump the bad stuff :P

That's not the upcoming commercial release, but the old freeware version. TechnoBabylon used to be (well, still is) a freeware trilogy, and the freeware version is already pretty good. When I played it and then played Gemini Rue afterwards, I thought this was a perfect story and setting to get the Wadjet Eye treatment as well. And apparantly Dave Gilbert thought so, too. The upcoming game to be released on GOG will be an enhanced and expanded version, that combines all three chapters into one, adds voiceovers, new graphics and AFAIK more story and puzzles, so it's most probably worth your money despite the fact that you can still download the freeware versions (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3).
