MischiefMaker: Also a world where military service is mandatory to have any voice in politics is not exactly "centrist."
It's not exactly better than a society where you need to serve mandatory military service or you go to jail.

Yeah, that was the movie only. In the book military service was only one way to be considered a citizen and thus be giving the voting 'franchise'. To kind of paraphrase the book you could be quadriplegic but if you did something to show that you cared about society you could earn your citizenship. Even if you didn't do something to earn a citizenship you were still allowed to just live your life, run a business, have kids, or any other things that would be considered a normal right. You just didn't get a say so in run the government unless you were a citizen.

The tricky think about this book is that it's always been a bit of a lighting rod for some people who just want to fill in their own politics in what he was trying to say. Ultimately, form his own writings, Heinlein was trying to encourage younge adults to give a damn about their own country. Certainly more nationalistic than not, but he was never pushing to turn kids into jack-boot wearing thugs as portrayed in the movies.

Crosmando: ... Why even bother with infantry, just nuke every planet with bugs.
No pain, no gain. Meaning nuking wouldn't produce veteran units that would otherwise be capable of facing the next threat. Repeat.
Also, nuking a planet just " because inhabited by bugs" would likely be considered a universal genocide (civil casualties etc.)

I presume advertising the (not so) old but gold Ender's game, addressing a similar human-alien confrontation, is OK.

Edit: wording, formatting.

Starship Troopers - UHF MashUp

I have this video downloaded from so long ago (2010 say file properties), didn't remember it until now. Original YT video isn't showing up in search, so... Enjoy the original 240p on a nonYT site.
This game would be worth getting if you could play as the bugs.
Pre-orderable now, for real this time, if you so desire.
No jump suits :-(

Wasn't the movie a parody of Star Craft? Because It was like a bad version of Star Craft.

I don't think you can compare these two, because there was no Astra Militarum in Star Craft. :)
Verhoven's Starship Troopers is one of the greatest, most misunderstood satires of all time.

I'm just confused why you would want to play as the mobile infantry. It's like making a game where you command the Spaceballs.
Have you guys played the Xenowerk Tactics game for mobiles? I guess this will be something like that with more characters on screen.
