Pre-order the third part of the cult FPS series!
Genre: Action
Planned release date: 1st March 2022
Discount: Pre-order the game on GOG and get your hands on the exclusive Koromodako Katana!
I loved Shadow Warrior 2 and it saddens me to read that it'll be a more straight forward FPS. The second game had many interesting features and I had hopes that the third one will develop them even further. But it's still one of the most anticipated games of 2022 for me. Can't wait to actually play it!

Wait! They changed the voice actor for Wang because the original one was not Asian?

WTF?!

Enebias: I liked 1. I hated 2 (the movement and the shootign were great, but the "loot" part, the flat humor and the repetitive side quests made it extremely dull, so much wasted potential).

This one seems on the right track, if Flying Wild Hog played it right we might get something on par with Doom Eternal.
This is more or less my thoughts. I am going to wait and see that it is more like 1 then 2.

I don't mind them shaking some things up. It would be boring to make the same game over and over, but I loved the first one, so I lean in that direction.

Yes they outright admitted thats why and their reason was''its racist to not have people of that race and sex or identity to voice such a charater or one thats from that cultures and races mytho's or beings that are stand ins for theme'' I ain't kidding here

I haven't gotten around to playing either of the first two games yet. All three games just look like fun to me. I'm just slightly annoyed by the pre-order bonus katana. It's like a Kickstarter reward, but for a full-priced, major publisher release. The whole pre-order concept doesn't make sense anymore ever since digital releases, IMHO.

I don't know if that's the reason behind it and I can't be bothered to dig deeper. But yes, the official Twitter account announced a new voice cast, with Mike Moh replacing Jason Liebrecht in the role of Lo Wang:

NuffCatnip: I hope this game'll have proper levels without generic randomized level chunks, dropping the looter shooter aspects would be great as well...and the RPG elements.

Could be fun if this is a pure fps, like the first game.

Breja: I'd rather keep the looter part, I had a whale of a time with it in SW2.
I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed my time with the game (most of the time at least), but at times it felt like an RPG with guns rather than a real FPS.

Weapon customization can be fun, but I thought the mechanic in SW2 was tedious. At some point I had hundreds of different essences/spirits/souls for my weapons that were practically the same.

Due to the way you can spec your gear and the sponginess of enemies they can take a dozen headshots if you use the wrong gun/essence combination.
Plus, it's way too random, it's less about 'skill' but rather about getting good drops.

This isn't supposed to be a rant, just my two cents. :)

That sounds super weird to me, but I guess it only goes to show how such terms have become near meaningless today. I mean, no offence, but to me saying that a game where you spend 100% of your time shooting things, has no other mechanics than those for shooting things, no story choices (and a super thin story overall), no character customisation, no character stats, and basically no way to, you know, roleplay, is more like an RPG than a shooter because it has loot is just crazy.

Not that I see why it being more like an RPG would be a bad thing, even if I considered it even remotely true. I kinda feel like FPS fans are very, very strict in how they see FPS games should be. It often feels like a particularly grognard-y bunch. Basically shooters should forever be stuck in the 90s, preferably never moving past Unreal (or even Doom, for extra hardcore true FPS fan points).

Edit: the fact there are people here butthurt enough to downvote people simply for stating we liked SW2 is the best proof of the above :D

Not happy they replaced the good old Lo Wang voice actor. This new one definitely lacks character and sounds very amateurish. Oh well, Shadow Warrior is one of my top favorite series (so far?) so fingers crossed the rest of the game doesn't suck as much.

Tarhiel: I guess that´s a step in the right direction?
But it seems like they are stretching it thin with this colorful stylization, Wang with hair makes sense (as he´s young), but with bald head was definitely more in line with the classic Shadow Warrior look.

Will wait for a discount.

BanditKeith2: Given the studio behind Shadow Warrior 3 donated to Anita Sarakeseen a known liar and manhater aswell as someone who was caught lying about actually enjoying games just wanting her own views catered to and it oddly worked .. then add some staff said she was consulted and they also was changing the game based on subjective views on what is and is not okay in dipecting cultures and races for how they portrayed things in Shadow warriors 1 and 2 I am likely to wait for this game to go dirt cheap as a result.. As while I am glad its her those factors all combined both doesn't bold well for the game and I am not of the mindset to rework people who work with a known sexist woman and hater of games aswell as hate both male and female gamers for varies stupid reasons .. Let alone the mindset phrasing they used is telling they couldn't separate real world politics from the work they did
That's not good.

They also said they brought in basically ''new generation to work on games'' paraphase here but its basically the age old''you gotta change pretty much everything as almost everything is bad of this thing'' trope media had on new commers to established business and brands and what people who followed the development of this game seen lets just say these sort are of the''hippie and diversity hire'' trope/meme aswell as how these new ones talk aswell it all does not bode well at all

Rather ironic, in an effort to not be racist....the company decision makers made a very racist decision to fire someone from their job, because the guy wasn't a race in which they wanted him to be.

Lots of people portray another race in acting. It is fairly common and not at all racist. Black people portray white. Asian portray black and everything else. Especially with voice acting. Females portray males and various actors in live action roles change the race as well.

Cowboy Bebop has white people portrayed by asians. A black guy portrays a white guy. A white woman portrays an asian female. Nobody usually even cares as long as the actor does the job correctly.

Seems like it is a politically correct error in judgement. Just my opinion.

What he says does make sense here as 1 the studio and devs admitted they recast Lo Wang as they now believe atleast they claim to believe that any VA let alone regular actor that isn't the same race and sex and not the same sexual orientation or identity can't play a role.. This happened after a teaser trailer they released that had the same VA from 1 and 2 this released before the announcement and reason and this launch trailer has a different VA for L;o Wang that he hadn't had before

Also in America such idotic mindset is refered as pc culture and also the reason given for the va change does come off as extremely bigoted

Yep. Check your receipt from the grocery store. I get a lot of coupons for things I've bought before. Sometimes, the cashier will even give me coupons for things they see I'm about to buy.
