chadjenofsky: Dammit, Jim! I"m a doctor, not an arborist!
But.... are you a botanist?

Treasure: I think it's an almond tree -the fact it has stuff that looks like pink flowers on it should be an indication for that.

snowkatt: i didnt know almond trees were pink
Only when they go through their "emo" phase.

awalterj: The dendrology of this thread has been fouled!

This tree is obviously a red maple
I'm starting to believe that you're right.
The pink stuff on the ground could be the flowers that have already shed from the tree....? It's everywhere after all. The other trees look the same, just further through the shedding process. (In response to the cherry tree theory).

JDelekto: I apologize I cannot help you with that, but if you or anyone you know has heard of the Vanishing of Ethan Carter, I would appreciate any information you can provide.
I played Ethan Carter.

Pro

It is an awesome looking game, even on my PC
It has great puzzles
The puzzles have a pretty unique way of being expressed.

The save system is pure unadulterated evil. The game will tell you it has saved and this may or may not be correct regarding your progress.
There are some really bad bugs.
Motion Sickness seems to be a huge problem for people with this game, only two games have made me sick while playing, Ethan and Dying Light, so I don't think it is necessarily down to me.

There is afaik a new version due for release (already released ?) That should make the above negative comments redundant...hopefully.

I quit playing after having to replay several parts due to the save system.
Looks like we found it:

darthspudius: It's a wooden tree!

ZFR: Ah, it's not dangerous then. Those trees are all bark and no bite.
You can probably get at least few bytes from that tree.

Must Try Hard not to turn this into a SEX TOY joke MUST TRY HARD....

hedwards: Sure there is, but you have to get to it through the cow level. You have to beat that tree with the legs of 30 cows to get through. Then a green portal will open allowing you into the tree level.

You’ve been tricked. You *think* you’ve seen a cow level, but it was only an hallucination.
Don’t be fooled by what the game wants you to believe.

It's a fake tree!
It's very hard to tell because of the lack of detail, but I would guess it's meant to be a beech tree, based on the smooth and dark bark and the general shape of the leaves. That and beech trees are pretty common as far as I'm aware.

What I want to know is why you care, is it just idle curiosity or is there a purpose?

Hello, thanks for your reply! There is a purpose behind my question that perhaps later I'll share but for now I'll keep it as a secret :P

Well, you give me a lot to think since I was almost decided to assume was another tree but your suggestion looks very valid... so I'm puzzled now...
It could be a lot of titles. Could you be more specific?
Remember some of the details.

It's pretty hard to guess... It may not even be based on a real tree, although it seems likely that it would be (why make something up when you can just copy it?)
But from what I could see beech seemed to be the most likely and logical (I would doubt it's a maple as the leaves don't look to be lobed)
