My understanding is that changing the original characers in any significant way is against the terms of their contract. That said they'll probably add poorly done companions just like the EE of BG1 and BG2.

If they do add something like a transgendered companion I'm hoping they at least give them a personality beyond "Look at me! I'm transgendered!". I find that extremely unlikely so I hope they just avoid the issue.

Just thought I would point out that "transgender" is not a verb, so "transgendered" is not a word. "transgender" is an adjective, not a noun or verb, so your quote should say "I'm transgender", not "I'm transgendered".

It's gonna be pretty damn tough to not screw this up and to please the existing fanbase (which I hope they will). I also hope they leave the original up for sale. I really do.

Well, I'll bite. As far as I am aware the games themselves are the originals, with a widescreen, some bugfixes (publicly available), and some new bugs. But, the cost dramatically increased, and the originals are removed to be extras after buying the vastly overpriced ee version. As for the expansion, I have no opinion on the content as the original set was a complete story arc, no need or point in trying to shoe horn more in, so again another big cost for no purpose. Also, at least initially most other mods didn't work with it, although I know there were some steps to get some working. Me, I am happy with the very generous and creative modding community who worked tireless over decades. As apposed to this company who are just in it for the vast wads of cash rolling in for nothing.
