This looks exactly like XCOM. I wonder if 2K or Firaxis Games will get into a legal dispute with these developers of Phoenix Point?

Technically, Gollop (the head of this project) is the one who made the original XCOM, so...

EDIT: for clarification, I mean this one _ https://www.gog.com/game/xcom_ufo_defense

Ok then that makes sense why it looks like a carbon copy of Xcom. Thanks!
Oh wow, I din't know about this game. For sure gonna' check it out. Thanks for the info!

Fun part is that no one on steam will be able to play it. :D I love Epic for that. It takes a piss on Valve and Valve can't do anything about it.

Fig campaign also promised GOG keys which we didn't get. So I'm not amused.

Yeah, Snapshot Games screwing their backers (and they had a lot of backers) in the last stretch sure left a bitter taste. :/

Awww! D: But most likely eventually, yes ?

I don't support Epic in any sense. Don't get the wrong idea. They don't even advertise on their store page if game has any DRM or not. But it's good that Steam has a competitor. It's good for everyone, except for Valve.

WUT?! Aiming alone is different. Not to mention the allied factions and multiple bases.
https://phoenixpoint.info/

It has it's own webiste (so you don't have to support Epic) and i recommend having a look through the game-play video's there.

Been watching this since it was announced (huge original x-com fan) and pleased it will be coming to GOG eventually, as this is where i'll be buying it :)

It also has artillery that can snipe you from across the map even though you have zero hope of getting to it to take it out. Balance's kinda messed up for the moment.
Fantastic game guys. If you don't want to go Epic this is one to really look forward to, and it's coming straight to GOG after it does it's year exclusive.

I will be buying it a second time when it does drop on GOG.

Besides, after a year the DLC and patches will be out. X-COM games are always janky upon release and this one properly simulates projectiles, so it's got even more moving parts than the newer games that people have gotten familiar with.
I'm really looking forward to its gog release!
I totally want to play this, but... while I understand people going for the huge profit of the Epic exclusive, not keeping their word (and no, "you will get it, just one yer later" doesn't count as keeping word) with the people who backed them is shameful.
If I'll get this, and that is a big if, it will be after a HUGE discount. They were already boasting about their revenues simply from the exclusive deals, so I assume they are already finiancially ok. I don't want to support this.

In short: going epic is your decision and I won't blame you, but if you retract your word for profit you deserve bashing.

Before the dev sold out to epic it was supposed to come here on release day. Since then it was supposed to be released here 6 months after the release on epic.

If that is still the plan it will come in... whatever time is left (one month; two? cant be that many).

Unless the dev now develops some ego for all the wrong reasons and do not release it outside epic at all because some ppl had some rather strong emotional fueled comments about his behavior paired with his justification for said behavior.

On a positive side this game and a fistful of others did showed the hypocrisy of quite a few steam users that are so used to steam doing the exclusive grabbing that they are completely blind about epic doing basically the same (just more blatant and disgraceful).

No, it always was one year of exclusivity. But yeah, after that (December 2020) it will come here.
