timppu: And why was PewDieDie constantly writing the year 1969 in that video (in fake email addresses or something)? He is not 46 years old, is he?
Could very well be his father's year of birth. (Just guessing, Felix/PewDiePie is 20 years younger though, according to Wikipedia.)

ScotchMonkey: Never cared for pews brand of commentary. Seems a decent guy though.

For the hypest playthroughs on the interwebz I choose the Super Best Friends!
Super Best Friends is awesome.
PewDieDie and gog sheesh this should be the final blow for the site for anything that's left that can be called good old games, after nearly ruining southpark hes headed here damn

Maighstir: He's mostly famous among teenagers, who frequently look up to a different set of attributes than adults do. I'm not surprised you don't appreciate him a lot (neither do I, TotalBiscuit and Yahtzee are more up my alley).

timppu: Could be an age thing... but still, what's the thing that separates PDD from other (teenage?) youtubers? What makes his videos stand out to make him such a success among teenagers? I don't see anything special in his videos, I would have though anyone can make similar videos. Not that i am complaining, just trying to understand the phenomenon.
OK, I'm far from being a teenager but there are some factors that plays in his favor and goes well with the youtube format:

- Length of the videos : Generally less than 10-15 minutes (except for playthroughs like Witcher 3 or Life Is Strange). Scientifically it goes well along the average attention span wich is around 17 min maximum. Also, If you check your daily subscriptions you won't have the time to check all videos posted so you'll skip the lenghty ones.

- Edited videos : a lot of youtube game videos are just plain commented gameplay which is fine when it's livestreaming but it's boring to watch as "end product". Editing helps keeping things interesting. Watching streams of Bloodborne were unappealing for me while his Bloodborne series totally sold the game for me.

- Randomness : you never know what's the next video will be like or about so, it's a kind of surprise everyday.

BTW, I watch my youtube feed on my tablet while eating my breakfast so that's why I don't want serious and informative stuff as I'm just out of the bed and not totally awake and I guess it's the same "mentality" from most of his viewership ;)
I though he was going to do some sort of statement about DRM-free games, but instead he has just discovered about GFWL.. and only at half video after playing a crap game.. and he doesn't even mention DRM.. WTF catpower, this thread is pointless -_-'

Welp, at least this gave me a reason to see if GFWL will be kind to me this time after re-installing the game. It's a fun ride, if you don't mind the massive f@king abuse of s#it-speak. [the rest of the comment removed due to the discovery of mature language filter]

Probably:
- because he was among the first people who used Youtube for Let's plays (maybe the Amnesia one made him "famous").
- due to his juvenile silly behaviour and humor.
- also for that Bro Army thing that creates some sort of community feeling (for insecure teenagers).

I seriously doubt that autistic 12 year olds watch PewDiePie and wonder how you came to this evaluation.
They are usually above the average IQ, you know?

Obviously a hyperbole but no they do not have above average IQ that's for sure.Look up videos criticizing PDP and check for people defending him in the comment section of those videos. You'll definitely notice a very specific patern in the way they express themselfs.
