Silver was an amazing action rpg published and developed by Infogrames in 1999 for PC and Sega Dreamcast.

Few years ago I remember I got the game up and running under Windows XP, sadly, there was a bug\glitch in the middle of the game that made it unplayable past that point and some minor visual glitches too.

Despite not running very good under XP it runs quite fine under Vista and Seven!

We all know that there are other Infogrames published titles here on GOG, like Outcast or Alone in the Dark.
I'd love to see Silver on GOG. It's a great game, and when I say great I mean it's a game that stand side by side with masterpieces like Oucast, Another World, Little Big Adventure and so on in my mind.

I think the game is not already on GOG because there's quite an effort to make a working release on XP, and maybe GOG team doesn't think it's worth the trouble, as the game is quite underrated. Still it works on Vista and I'm going to try with Seven too.

If you know and love Silver, this is a thread about the game! Discuss! And make GOG team hear your voice if you want this game published too :-)
If you don't know this game, even just the intro video will surely convince you about how good and glorious it was.

Here's the wonderful game intro:

And a gameplay video:

And here's a gameplay video that includes the game intro for the italian speaking users like me ;) the game had amazing european dubs too, with full voice acting

I'll be glad even just to get to replay the english version
Yeah, I'd try that :o
Since you put actual effort into this, and I do want the game, I am signing.
I remember how awesome that game was and yes, I'd like to see it on GOG.
I remember Silver. Played it until I reached a gamebreaking bug and couldn't go foward. Silly me didn't have a save game old enough to try to save my game. Then, I've never played it again.

I think the bug you mention got patched or it was the same bug that happens under XP.
The game had few bugs on release but as far I know they got patched later on :)
Awesome game i liked every part of it, bashing the crap out of goblins (or wathever) was priceless. the only really bad part was the last boss.
I bought this for my Dreamcast a couple of weeks ago. I remember getting the PC demo of this way way back in the day.

I should give it a try.

Now that you said it, The_voivod, it's quite possible... I'll investigate.

Now I'm trying to install Silver on windows seven, people on youtube got it working but that doesn't mean the game is fully playable from start to finish.

I'll report on it here :]
Considering Infogrames trades under the name "Atari"... yeah.

I don't think that there's any Infogrames games on GOG, actually. They should correct that.
I have it on the Dreamcast. It was decent, but not as good as I was expecting. I waited 8 years to play the game... having only the demo that came with a copy of the US version of the Official Dreamcast Magazine to satisfy my need for the game (as a matter of fact... it WAS the reason that I needed the game). Sadly, the rest of the game couldn't live up to the awesome beginning of the game (which was what the demo... well... demoed) in my eyes. Still it surely wouldn't hurt things any to have it on here. I'm all for it if enough people want it.
Good news!!!

I finally got it running under Windows Seven without glitches and without the infamous "map crash" that made the game unbeatable on a certain point.
I still need to test it better but at the moment it runs flawlessy.
Pressing F12 (pause screen) previously crashed the game, now everything is quite stable and glitch free.

It should behave the same way on Vista too, and possibly even on XP. If someone has the UK version of the game (it's the version I patched) and wants to try here is it:

Please drop a line here if it works on Vista or XP! :)

Included in the zip file there's a start.bat file, it's a simple workaround for the "weird colors" problem many old games have. It just kills explorer.exe and relaunch it after launching the game, preventing it to mess up the color palette.
I know you can also fix it editing the windows registry but this solution isn't bad. GOG could add the proper registry key on their installer if they release the game.

The problem I had was an horizontal bandwidth glitch over the animated backgrounds.
I fixed it checking the differences with an hex editor before and after setting a patch that I found around. Basically it was pure luck.

The game is known to have few bugs (the "bell bug" in the midle of the game, and others near the end), I hope to be able to play it 'till the end and provide a solution to every bug I encounter.

Yes in reality it's Infogrames that got Atari and now uses their brand, not the other way around.
Outcast was published by Infogrames if I remember well, but I'd like to see more games, like the original Alone In The Dark serie, GOG could pack the three original games in a bundle for example.
I think I'll mail GOG team about this game, maybe they can test it better and get it published :) It runs very well now on my system
If I run Silver using the original game .exe or the 1.09 patch, nothing happens - I just get the little loading animation on my mouse cursor, then nothing.
If I use Eclipse's patched .exe, I can hear the audio of a company logo or something playing, but all I can see is a blank screen. After the audio has finished playing, nothing else happens and I have to kill the game process to be able to exit.
Any ideas? Running Windows 7 64-bit.
