I was wondering what's the point of the pause download? If I pause the patch downloads and exit GOG or shut down my system, when I reopen GOG the downloads start completely over. I was half way through a 24 gig download when I paused it then started my comnputer the next day to continue it had to start completely over?? Am i missing somethin here?

If you mean the pause function of your browser, then the answer is simple. GOG doesn't support pausing when downloading directly from the website using the browser. If you want to utilize a pause function, you'll have to use GOG's optional client called or the old [url=https://www.gog.com/downloader]GOG Downloader. Both offer a pause function, but since GOG Galaxy is still a beta version, there are some bugs from time to time.

Browser-based download managers such as DownThemAll! usually do offer pausing and resuming of downloads in progress, though. And at this point, that would be a better recommendation than the no-longer-supported "official" downloader, which could break for good at any time.
No, I'm using the GOG Galaxy 1.1.27 Beta and the patches I'm talking about are the Witcher 3 patches, the client downloads very well and fairly fast it's just I don't leave my system on long enough for 24 gig to download, twice now I used the Pause Download funciton in the client and twice it started over when I exited and reopened it. I guess that may be a bug in the client as you mentioned DeMignon

HunchBluntley, thanks for pointing me to the Firefox addon I use FF so I'll give that a shot! Appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks to both of you for respoding much appreciation
GOG Downloader does pauses of DLs, also starts off from where they ended when you closed before a previous DL was completed.

That's what I stick to using.
