Nah, what he showed you were probably just pics of his asses'...udders? (Not sure if they're called that on a jackass.) He's been known to post some pretty racy pics of his asses. (Though I do agree that they could use a trim. =) )

EDIT: Sorry, OP, not trying to derail your thread (though we're doing a pretty fine job so far, eh?).
On-topic, I'm honestly not even sure how many of the first-person shooters on GOG are online-multiplayer-ready without unofficial third-party programs and other workarounds. I would imagine the newer ones (The ROTT and Shadow Warrior reboots are about all I can think of for sure) are ready-to-go. I've heard good things about Shadow Warrior, but not about multiplayer specifically. I would imagine the F.E.A.R. and [/i]FarCry[/i] titles (again, assuming online multiplayer is still supported) would be good. It would seem at least some of the Unreal/UT games are still good to go, and those are tried-and-true (...well, I've heard Unreal 2's not so good). Ummm...Screencheat's got a unique concept...Warsow's a different twist on the old high-speed Quake III-style run-and-gun FPS games...AVPC2k is Galaxy-ready....

Really, all that above is hearsay, though. The only GOG FPS I've played yet is a tiny little bit of the original Unreal, and I have never, ever played a shooter online...so take that ^ with a grain of salt. =)

Greatest game of all times. =)
Found another one whose name I couldn't remember when I was making suggestions before: Mobile Forces. It's kinda old (Unreal Tournament era -- and, in fact, it uses a version of that game's engine), but by most accounts it's pretty fun, the vehicular element in it (hence the name) works really well, and it's very undemanding to run on modern PCs. But, again, I've not played it. So I'll shut up now. =)

Sixteen years old is pretty old for a videogame. It's not ancient, but it's definitely old.
And, hell, even other entertainment media from around that time are starting to be considered "retro" or "classic": a couple years ago, I went to meet my siblings at a bar that had some music video service playing on a TV. It happened to be the "Retro Rock" channel...and the channel was playing Creed. The bartender saw me looking askance at the TV and said, "Makes you feel old, huh?" or something to that effect; I was actually thinking basically what you just said: "Creed aren't 'retro'! That album's only from, like, '97, '99, MAYBE 2000...wait...hmmm...well...shit...."

"best" is subjective so you wont likely get one unified answer. Depends on your own likes/dislikes and personal taste, what your expectations are, your budget and any other factors.

Aliens vs. Predator can be a fun FPS, then there is Ghost Recon also. Make a short list of potentially interesting titles from the catalogue, look them up on Steam to get ballpark rating scores and reviews both of which tend to be more useful and wide in scope than the gamed ones here. If you're looking for a newer game rather than classics, the new Shadow Warrior game or Rise of the Triad 2013 might be of interest. In the end, it comes down to your own perception of what "best" means for you though.
