Based on all my previous posts I am trying one last thing, I have uninstalled both the GoG Galaxy client and the game No Man's Sky itself. I made sure the installation folders for both things were removed after this,. I also made sure to delete my save.

I will try now from a fresh start and see if same bugs and problems are there. I am not sure but since everything I have reported (Named) from my previous installation is still uploaded toHello Games from this GoG Galaxy account my feelings are none too good that somehow reminants of that earlier activity could be the root of yet more problems.

But a fresh start and will use the Galaxy client online straight from the get go, the only experiment I will do is to see if the game still needs a controller to use the map features that I was able to only use with Galaxy installed. I will play this game only with it online, if it fails again after so much effort the nail is in the coffin.

iam8bit refuses to refund my money even though they have a refund policy I am in range of. I suspect it is due to the explorers edition I bought and the physical items that they themselves have said will take 6-7 weeks to deliver.

And one more thing, I will not use the DLC to get the in game ship to start at all just on the off chance that added a wildcard to thre installation.
I'll say this despite liking the game (well some aspects of it atm).
Refund it. Buy it later when/if everything is fixed.

iam8bit is who I paid my money to and they were the ones who provided me with the GoG redemption code, and they refuse to refund. I weas told by someone through emails named Eve that Quote "I can't get authorization for a refund based on not having an internet connection." And as many times as I have tried to explain that is not the reason they still refuse.

I have even tried to rationalize to them if I had no internet how could I have downoaded and used the GoG code to get the game and find all the faults. GoG games may be a good company but their involvement with iam8bit games has destroyed the GoG experience for me.
What is iam8bit?

Whatever or whoever it is, I'm pretty sure GOG has no involvement with them.

Before I go any further here, can anyone confirm if they are an authorized distributor/seller of GOG codes?

iam8bit is a company that sells games and other collectable items, so a quick search and you will find them. I paid them for the game as they were selling a nice looking die cast metal star ship as part of the deal. It was iam8bit who provided me with a valid working GoG redemption code to download the game from GoG so I would have to say since the code they game me to a GoG redemption was valid both parities GoG and iam8bit are well aware of each other yes ?

After that full uninstall of Galaxy client and game itself I reinstalled and even went so far as to disable my internet for this test only to find that same back stepped save to be there ! Did hello games store their saves somewhere in my registry as part of a copy protection scheme ???? I was sure to check all the folders for a clean uninstall Galaxy cliend, game and the saves location.

As I said before something is very wrong here, GoG has not responded to me at all in this matter and as I have said to get the redeem code must clairify that they are indeed involved with iam8bit (The game company look em up)

GoG failing to at least tell me anything has just shot themselves in the foot and lost a long time fan and anyone else I can influence.

You will have to contact support, both GOG and this keyseller. As far as I am aware - other than the Witcher 3 codes given out as part of Nvidia deals, there is no legal third party key seller for GOG games. If you have brought a key from a third party vendor, then you have likely been scammed, be it knowledgeably by that company or not.

How was I scammed the code did work for GoG, how could another company scam both myself and GoG.

And another thing I have sent several emails to GoG to talk about this matter and I get the generic "we recieved your email" from them and have not got one single reply.

This game shows up in my GoG library, how can GoG not be aware of this and more importantly not respond ??

So these GOG keys on sale in the Humble Store are 'illegal'?

iam8bit is legit, they were the authorized sellers of the PC Limited Edition with goodies.

There has been a spate of people buying keys off keysellers and the codes work fine, for a bit, then they get revoked. If yours is still valid then that's fine. As for support, well thats up to the support desk, I can't help you there.

Me personally I equate keysellers to con merchants, and wouldn't trust them.

look if you guys want to use those stores, and jump to their defense that is fine, the simple fact is that there have been cases where keysellers have been fraudulent, and to my knowledge there are no thrid party resellers of GOG games.
And I wouldn't put anything past Humble to be perfectly honest.
Just search key revoked or similar on the forums:

Somebody can buy GOG gift codes here, then sell them on another website (which is against GOG's terms of service, by the way), from which you can then buy those codes. I have never heard of "iam8bit", and I very highly doubt GOG has done business with them. There are very few other stores that sell (legit) GOG versions of any game, and they're mostly the "big dogs" (Ubisoft's store, for example), and mostly it's just for The Witcher 3.
It kind of sounds like that site you bought NMS from is trying to pull a fast one.

As to the game not working properly: as long as it's still in your library, GOG should try to work with you to get the game working (though bear in mind that a lot of other people are having problems with this title as well). But if the game was purchased from some unauthorized intermediary, there's nothing they can do for you with regards to a refund. (And if whoever originally purchased the code bought it fraudulently -- e.g., using a stolen credit card number -- it might not be in you library for much longer, anyway.)

EDIT: Added link.

Unfortunately he most likely won't be getting a refund

http://store.iam8bit.com/products/no-mans-sky-explorers-edition

"PLEASE READ: NO REFUNDS WILL BE OFFERED ONCE GAME CODE IS DISTRIBUTED"

At this point, it either gets working or nothing. Also of note is that nobody else has issues with offline mode far as I can find. The only online requirement is uploading discoveries. Not sure what that means since I don't own it. Hope OP can get things working

Iam8bit isn't a standard keyseller. They received authorization from Hello Games to produce a PC Limited Edition that came with several physical goodies, like a model ship, along with either a Steam or GOG code. The problems here aren't related to the key validity at all.

Elghinnfaer appears to be experiencing multiple issues with this game that seem to be unique to his/her PC and install as far as I can tell. At least, I haven't seen anyone else reporting the behavior described, and it certainly doesn't give me any of these issues with the Galactic Map. The keyboard controls for the map are badly designed and awkward, but they do function for me.

Hmm, that's cool. Nice to see devs selling GOG codes themselves, even if it is via a third party. The whole "ALL SALES FINAL!!!" refund policy is not so cool, but I can totally see why they do it that way (at least for the DRM-free version; can't see why that would apply to Steam "keys").
