I wish I could sort by decade. So here are some PC games I've bought that I either knew about already or looked up my alley when I saw them on sale. .

Albion
Anvil of Dawn
Betrayal in Antara
Betrayal in Krondor
Might & Magic 7
Might & Magic 8
Robinson's Requim
Stonekeep
Ultima 7
Wizardry 8

What games currently on gog that are like this should I take a look at? What amazing must play PC RPG classics are NOT on gog that should be? I skipped well known classics like Fallout and Baldur's gate because I'm looking for more that feel like those I listed. I see some games like the remake of shadowgate that is rated highly. I'm looking for any and all recommendations based upon the gog games I listed. Thank you all!

I've heard Lands of Lore is pretty good (DOS game), though I have not played it. Has a similar style to Grimlock from the videos I've seen of it.
Ah yeah. I must have browsed over that, that's actually currently in my cart, lol. I saw some video of it and it looks perfect. 1st person real time exploring mixed with menu based RPG actions.

So many! Might and magic 6, for sure. Also, return to krondor.

Have you tried Spiderweb games? Those are all great. Not similar in gameplay or aesthetics, but similar in that feeling of discovery and old-school mechanics.

The lands of lore games are good.

People hate Kings quest 8, but I loved it and has that old-school feel. Pacing is bad, but their are aspects to that game that are very unique as you discover them.

Some newer games are great, too, and have the same sort of feel. Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2 are great. They aren't on sale right now, but will be in the future so you can wishlist them.

Might and magic x is good too, but only on Uplay store
You can't get much more classic and 90s than Spiderweb Software's Exile series.
Eye of the Beholder Series are a good choice. I had never played them as a kid and but I enjoyed them very much the day they were released here.

The 3D certainly looks more old-school than most other (textured) 3D games. :-P
The earlier Might and Magic games.

Ultima 4-6, maybe 3. (I actually consider Ultima 7 to be significantly worse than its predecessors due to ruining the battle system and the need to manually feed characters combined with an awful inventory system.)

Bard's Tale 1-3. (The 2004 version includes emulated versions of the classic trilogy; the remaster contains re-done versions (with some significant changes) of the first two games (third isn't yet included, but is promised).)

Wizardry 6-7.

Dragon Wars. (A nice game that's often overlooked.)

Wasteland. (If you liked Fallout's setting, you might like this game, which is essentially its predecessor.) I actually prefer this game's growth system to Fallout's.

Not on GOG:

Wizardry 1-5. Particularly 1 and 5 are good, while 4 might be enjoyable if you've finished 1 and are looking for a hard (sometimes unfair) RPG/Adventure hybrid. (Be warned: The adventure game aspects are quite difficult; also, expect to be killed by MAKANITO many times during the course of your playthrough.)

Dungeon Master, Chaos Strikes Back (technically not PC, but for other home computers), and Dungeon Master 2. I prefer these games to the Eye of the Beholder series because of the growth system.

(Also, if you are willing to bend the rules very far, and allow games for non-PC computer systems (and games whose RPGness might be borderline, or where the most famous versions were released on consoles), you get the Ys series, and it turns out that Dragon Quest 1 and 2 and Final Fantasy 1 were released in Japan for the MSX (although FF1 MSX apparently has a bug that makes Black Belts useless).)
If you just want to kill time, and do a roguelike game, there's always Moraff's Dungeon. You can find download links to at least the shareware version on the web still.

Actually, Breath of Fire 1 and 2 were ported to the Game Boy Advance.

The Final Fantasy series pre-date the PlayStation, and I actaully think that all the good games in the series were released before then.

I also note that the feel of the series changed drastically when FF6 came out, to the point where that game, and the FF games that followed it (except *maybe* 9), did not feel like Final Fantasy games to me. (Oddly, FF2 did; maybe it was the re-use of ff1's overworld graphics.)

Believe me I know all about console RPGs. In fact I am more of a console player. So I played most of those games, BOF, Chrono Trigger, FF, Suikoden, Etc. .

But I always played and liked point n clicks, especially once they went "talkie version". LSL6 is one of my favorite games of all time. But now I am starting to get into these 90s PC games. I dig Lands of Lore so much I bought a Surface Go so I can play gog games at work now too.

I have a game collection, but I am trying to trim it down. I have very mint complete RPGs from GBA and DS, to PS1 and PS2, to newer stuff like 360 and PS4. I'm a gamer so I enjoy all sorts of games. Finishing Octopath Traveller right now and moving on to Golden Sun Lost Age on my GameBoy Micro since I never beat that one.

Honestly skipping Baldur's Gate and Fallout is a huge mistake. Its time to move to the next level.

If you like SNES RPGs check out Star Ocean and Dark Half. They are Jap exclusives with quality fan translation.

Given your interest in old grid-based dungeon crawlers, I assume you already know Eye of the Beholder, but just in case you're still interested in buying the series, GOG hides it under the name Forgotten Realms - The Archives - Collection One.
