Layarion: I guess men don't have bad days.
If I were world king for a day, my first decree would be to mandate immediate ice cream dispensation to men who accidentally hit their testicles hard. It's the only humane way to treat someone in such pain. Not sure about days off though, I mean... you kinda can get medical leave if it gets *that* bad, at least in this part of the world.

Funny, I no longer like GOG more than Steam either. It used to have a sympathethic community, but nowadays the opinions and complaints regularly spouted on the General Discussion forum are much "too niche" for my taste ...

Nah, it’s nothing like steam. Steam has a huge library, rock bottom prices with keys, runs on Linux, doesn’t claim to be anything they are not. True galaxy has brought the two stores closer in terms of removing ownership, data mining, and providing online dependency, but it hasn’t made the stores comparable elsewhere.

Experiment513: Tell me: if you got stomach aches all day for a few days (which could be very painful) would you go to work? I see you are located in the US so you probably will because else you would be fired. As a man I like the rule that women can get a few days of paid leave when it's 'that time of the month'. It's not really favoring a sex above the other one. It's making life a bit easier so you don't have to sit in a chair all day enjoying the cramps.

So... GOG: very nice policy you have there! :D

I don't like sexism and you shouldn't either. the actions gog takes says more than their words, are they for giving everyone equal treatment or just those they want to support?
In most European countries when you are ill, you go to the doc and get payed days off until you are better.
Easy as that.
It isn't even vacation.
In Germany you will get payed for 6 weeks by your company if your doc says you are to ill to work.
After that our universal health care insurance will pay you 70% for max 78 weeks and if you can't work after that time it is very likely you will get a pension.
So, you are very ill by depression, you can get days off.

And if you get ill while you are on vacation (in germany at last 26 days off are written law), you can go to the doc and the days you are ill won't count to your vacation days.

And very often you need to go to the doc on illness day 3 and not before.

And yes, some companies allow menstrual indicated leave.

The only difference to the past is, you don't have to see the doc.

Wellcome to Europe.
We got social welfare systems and companies that are (forced) to be friendly to their employes.

US companies had to learn that the hard way in the past.
US citizens - well, your own fault.

So if a guy comes in and says i need a paid day off because i got a headache or am just not feeling well, they gonna skip the doctors note and give it to him?

Most companies that value their staff, YES

I got hit by a bad virus a few years back, was off for 3 and 1/2 days. Full pay, no doctors note.

I don't see the issue with paid sick leave. I get paid sick leave and I'm a man. Recognising that menstruation can make someone really unwell is not sexist.
