If I may be kind of serious for a minute.

I don't know about Europe but over here texting and driving is quickly become a very large and a very serious problem. I can't imagine this is going to help. :P
If this means I can get Nintendo games on the PC (officially) then it's all good.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: But for pc... What could possibly Nintendo release for PC?!? Especially when there is no freaking chance it won't be booby trapped with DRM and/or antipiracy...?
Older games are the most likely option. Sega has released dozens of emulated Sega Mega Drive games on the PC.

Given the mobile focus of this announcement I wouldn't expect to see their console titles on the PC any time soon unless they are also suitable for touch devices.

Hmm, isn't over there a greater problem than driving and texting, the driving and shooting?!? :P

Oooh! Now it makes sense! THIS is why they bash emulation, the freaks, then! They want to tear down free entertainment, so they can mutilate it into endless, tiny pieces, to sell them separately and for outrageous price, like Sega! What a fowl play!

Only in Detroit.
So Nintendo is partnering with one of the largest freemium game makers out there to make Nintendo smartphone games. Meh.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Dammnit! When and how did, mobile gaming, escalate into a new trend and a mania? I hate that thing! Even more than antipiracy measures (which, notably, can be circumvented like a breeze)... But for pc... What could possibly Nintendo release for PC?!? Especially when there is no freaking chance it won't be booby trapped with DRM and/or antipiracy...?

Still, i hate those guys! They are bashing emulation like there is no tomorrow!
About 2006 when all those issues began. :V

As for releases, who the heck bloody knows, especially with the freemium publisher and Pokemon Shuffle, and other bad signs.
Maybe this opens the door for GoG to start selling NES, GB and SNES games a bit? :P
There are some titles from Lucas Arts and Disney. ;)

I think the problem with the Wii U. Is Nintendo has always been the more affordable family system. But then they added a Tablet to the Wii U that you must buy. Bumping up the price by at least a 100 bucks. Hell you can't even set up the system without it. I don't think that the Tablet controller is a totally bad idea. But it should have been completely optional. Frankly when i first heard how they going to have a controller with a lcd screen. I was thinking more along the lines of Dreamcast Controller with a bigger lcd screen. But not the size of a tablet.

While I somehow doubt Nintendo's doors are that open, I'm sure GOG could try.

No. Just no. Emulation is (still) free. Despite certain people's best (worst, actually) efforts. Please, don't say such things before people who had been with emulation, since its very beginning (2001-2002)... If you want to buy the roms, just do, but pretty please, neither assume, nor try to make it appear as normal, that thing (the buying of roms). Stop feeding the sharks, pretty please? Little fishes appreciate little morsels so much more...
Iwata obviously did this to make the shareholders happy and it worked:

I meant like... 5mm. ;)
When was the last time internal Nintendo studios released something aside from Mario, Zelda and stuff? Same games, target audience since 1995, that was a good run.

nintendo wanted to grab a slice of the tablet pie
and went about it totally the wrong way

this isnt the first time they tried chasing apple with it going wrong
the gba micro was created to tap in to the ipod mini

only for apple to kill the damn thing and replace it with the nano

We're all sad, bro. It's time to mourn, because it's all downhill from here.

Anyone wanna do some end-of-the-world shots in the meantime?

Not sure if this is good or if it means they'll focus on mobile only and make crappy ports for PC.
