Windows 10 is coming today!

With so many of us excited to jump on board the next big thing for Windows gaming, we want to share with you the latest update on game compatibility today, and our expectations for the future.

Overall, the entire process went better than expected. We're very happy with that fact, but we're still only getting started.

Today, roughly 85% of our library is labeled as compatible with Windows 10. These games were fully playable with no significant performance or graphical issues during our testing process and are ready to go right now. You can filter through Windows 10 games in our catalog, and the compatibility will be labeled on every game card.

Moving forward, we plan to continue our work to bring as many of the remaining games as possible over to the new OS. As new updates and features are released, we hope to see improved backward compatibility and new tools to work with, but it's always possible for new issues to come up along the way. If you do suspect that a game should not be labeled Windows 10 compatible, we'll appreciate your help in getting to the bottom of things, but you can always rely on your 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

The most important thing to stress is that Windows 10 is a brand new operating system, and that means we're still in the middle of a transition period. The coming weeks or months may be rocky as the first wave of patches hits the OS, so we'll constantly monitor the situation to quickly put out any fires.

Help us improve our Windows 10 compatibility.
Windows 10 is still in its early days, and there's a myriad of hardware and software combinations out there - some of them potentially explosive. We want to give you the option to report any problems you have with Windows 10 and GOG.com games, and help us make the experience best for everyone. If you'd like to help us out, you can do so through our public Mantis bug tracker:

--Use your GOG.com credentials to log in.
--Make sure that you are browsing issues the Windows 10 Game Compatibility Issues project, as opposed to the GOG Galaxy Client project.
--You can change your project through the drop-down menu in the upper-right hand corner of the page.
--You can access the Report Issue section from the upper menu if you are redirected to the home page.
--Inside, you'll find more detailed instructions on how to help us out and submit your bug.

We've done our best to bring GOG.com to Windows 10 and we're happy with the results so far, but if you're having problems with a game that should be compatible - contact us! Every bit of info helps us and your 30 Day Money Back Guarantee is there if we can't help you in turn.

Telika: Is there a way to list the non-compatible games ? That is, to filter the win10-compatible "out" instead of "in" ?

Paxrisen: Terraria is dont work on Windows 10. Only 1 second loade and stop.
I never played Terraria on any other OS than Windows 10. It works PERFECTLTY.

I had an issue with the first download through GOG Galaxy, so uninstalled it, and went to download it straight from the website instead. But it works the way it should.

GODSPEEDseven: This is GOG... can't we keep the topic on Good Old Games and not privacy policies?

This is 2015, the internet is the least private thing there is around. Your ISP, e-mail and a whole bunch of online services you use, already contains your genetic code.

All that doesn't change the fact a lot of us are going to use Windows 10 and have our identities completely stripped from our souls and engage in rituals with Cortana; in the end, what matters HERE, is that GoG are making our precious games compatible for us who like selling our souls to Microsoft.
avatar
Cavalary: The internet, yes. Personally tend to have a rule of not putting stuff up online if I'd mind it being public (and generally having profiles everywhere about as public as they can possibly be). But do expect communications to remain private though. And your own computer should be as private as you want it to be, that's an entirely different bowl of fish.

Meh, whatever.
They say panicking is usually worst than what can befall you. Personally, I try as best as possible to control what information I voluntarily release online. And I'm not looking to annoy you here, or insult you or anything bad... but your computer and the internet and your life are ONE. EVEN if you didn't have a computer, your information IS online.

Even if you've NEVER purchased anything online, banks, credit companies, social identity, those are ALL stored on servers across the world by mega corporations.

The only way you could EVER get away from having any kind of information online, would be to live as a hermit, and have no identity. Your ISP has information on you, your bank does, your e-mail does, your loans, mortgages, credit, sex, age, social ID... it's all stored online, and no matter the precautions you take on YOUR end, that information is already there for the taking.

Every major company who deals mainly with computer information has issues with privacy, I doubt Microsoft is much worst than Google or Apple or whomever else you can think of. In the end, these companies RELY on us to keep making money, it isn't in their best interest to divulge personal information to the public, but they'll gather as much as they can to help them create trends and sell you things.

As technology goes forward, and more and more apps and watches, computers, tablets, phones.. become personalized, we can't expect privacy to become something more secure.

Honestly, I am more worried of getting scammed at a corner store than using my computer. I'm worth approximately 5$ on the black market.

cpc464: I can get ut2004 to run on 10 if I switch to the OpenGL rendered for ut2004 32bit or alternative d3d9 works with the 64bit exe. It appears there is a d3d9 option for ut2004 32bit but I haven't looked very hard for it but it might also be an option if someone can find it as the OpenGL renderer doesn't appear to let you max out character shadows I think it is which is a little strange but there you go.
Right, I tested this yesterday and the D3D9 renderer does work in fullscreen or windowed. Also, the 32-bit version of UT2004 only works in windowed mode and not fullscreen for me. Do note that to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, one should NOT do so in game, but instead through the UT2004.ini or UT2004-win64.ini files.

One possible reason to use the 32-bit binary is for the mod "Bloody Hell," which is part of the "Ballistic Weapons" collection of mods. The 32-bit version displays the blood effects, but not the 64-bit version.

Oh yeah, the OpenGL renderer can display shadows, so try to follow the directions here. This renderer doesn't really handle the "Ballistic Weapons" mod in my experience well, however. See the picture below for the OpenGL renderer displaying the shadows (Sorry for the bad image).

EuroMIX: Alt+Up = Go up a level in explorer.
Alt+Left or Right = scroll through the explorer window history; right being forward, and left being back.

These and more listed here.
Now how did I go all these years and never bump into that? Thanks!

We're talking of different things. I'm talking information about what you do on your computer, not on-line and not general information about you as a person, leaving said computer. What programs I use on my computer and how, metadata (or even contents, according to that!) of locally stored files, favorites lists, PASSWORDS (!!!), those should NOT leave my computer unless I specifically opt in to sending such info for some reason. And, again, excuse me while I do tend to have an expectation of privacy when it comes to the content or other details of my on-line non-public communications. The rest, yes it's there, but it's not what I was complaining about.

I'm curious. What type of older programs didn't work with 7 (not 8) and now work on 10?

Your crash is unrelated to Windows 10, I've been playing Terraria perfectly on much older versions of W10.

TERRARIA works perfectly on W10...

Since this announcement, it seems this has turned into a witch hunt to find the games that don't run... while they all should run the same as on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 .... it is the SAME os with a few graphical differences. And maybe just a few pieces of software we might have to install.

Make sure your XNA Framework is installed... don't just assume it's there, go install it again., Visual Studio, DirectX, etc..

Those games ran on any OS since Windows 98. I've had all those on al the OS's since then, and never had an issue. The "fix" might be because of the fresh install of the OS and that might have fixed a few files you had that for some reason didn't cause those games to work. Conflicting drivers which aren't conflicting anymore, frameworks, that type of thing..

Thanks, installing the XNA framework manually fixed it. I don't blame Windows for it, though, or GOG - it's still a {technically} new OS, some teething troubles are expected. I am a bit miffed that the dependencies aren't included, or mentioned, though, but it's not too big of a deal.
