One could say that GOG Galaxy is a simply stellar platform.

These past couple of days have been full of good news here at the office! First, our partners in crime CD PROJEKT RED told the world that 4 million copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have been sold. Now we’re here to announce that in the first two weeks almost 700 thousand gamers worldwide have gone with GOG Galaxy as their monster-huntin’ platform - more than all other PC options combined!

Headcount: Over 693,000 gamers worldwide
Volume: Over 21.5 petabytes of game and bonus content
Achievements: 3.5 million unlocked
Combined game time: 1,770 years (that’s 646,479 full 24-hour days)

See the video below for more stats about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com!

elgonzo: Galaxy is a stellar platform? Erm, no, at least not yet.
Pretty sure it's just a pun.

Galaxies? Stars? Just me?

I thought it was pretty funny :(

You should have read at least the second line of my comment as well. Then you would understand the pun i was making. ;)
The stat I'm most interested in, the only thing that can make GOG Galaxy beat the GOG Downloader in attractiveness for me, is how much time I spent on my games.

With the current state of affairs we're left bungling between a no-longer supported GOG Downloader and a still-in-beta GOG Galaxy. And I'm not happy at all with the Downloader no longer being supported.

Still, congratulations are in order for growing big. But don't forget were you came from and the loyal fans who like games without DRM, whistles and bells that made GOG big.

synfresh: I find it incredibly ironic that GoG toots it's own horn when it comes to Galaxy, yet in I'm sure a large percentage of that 700k, there was nothing 'optional' (from the user point of view) in installing and running on Galaxy if they bought retail. This coming from the same site where there is a sizeable amount of users who do not like clients period.

Meanwhile Valve is over there clapping their hands, saying 'welcome to the dark side'.
We do not avoid clients.
We avoid DRMs.

Big difference.

My thoughts exactly, clients are great and convenient.... it's DRM that tends to come with them that is the issue.
So maybe 1.5 million sales on the pc. That's really not too bad at all!
And the next big increase of Galaxy users will be with Witcher 4. ;-)

mistermumbles: Yeah, you go, GOG. wooh.... Right. *rolls eyes* Let's flaunt some more virtually inflated statistics that in the end are fairly meaningless. At least it was interesting to note how many PC copies sold so far. I wonder though how many less there would be without the NVIDIA promo.

It's a trap! Seriously though, wake me up once that thing has a complete and stable release. Even then I may chose not to use it.

BKGaming: So what your saying is your not using the platform at all, but your more that qualified to comment on it like you know what it is... or am I the only one seeing this?

GodOfUrging: Those are soem nice numbers. But I don't think I'll be switching to GOG for my future non-Witcher gaming. Mainly because of all the little conveniences Steam has. (In-game chat, better download speeds and the ability to back up a game without havingto re-download the whole thing, being the most prominent ones.)
avatar
BKGaming: All the things that Galaxy will have eventually... Steam took over 10 years to get where it is... Galaxy has had 6 months. Let's not forget that.
True enough. But the back-up thing is a very annoying little convenience for me right now. I'm buying a new PC, as the current one is getting old. But no matter what I do, it looks like I'll have to re-download Witcher 3. Which wouldn't be that big a problem with higher download speeds.

Sizeable? I think that is a very gross over estimation on your part there but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt so where are your numbers to back that statement up.

Or is this another case of the vocal minority thinking they are larger then they really are again.

Why not just transfer it with a flash drive or Ethernet cable... then scan and import the folder into Galaxy? Galaxy can do that...

I have used Steam for a good few years and understand some people's loyalty to the site .
But fail to understand the blinkered view they take of Steam ,GOG Galaxy is what 8 month's old Steam close to 13 years old so they have had a bit of a head start in puting things in place .
Yet they still seem to be unable to ensure that some of the games they sell even work on Windows 7 /8 and will still take your cash knowing this .
Not so perfect as made out and of coarse they would not try to introduce paid mod's for games would they ?
I have many games on Steam and will no doubt buy more but I am also realistic about their short coming's .
I welcome GOG Galaxy and also have no problem using Origin but in their case only if I can not activate the game any where else .
In the end I just love game's

Smannesman: One interesting fact you can infer from this blatantly skewed tooting your own horn news post is that by far the most players are on consoles. Unless my math is wrong, which of course is extremely possible.
Yeah. That actually confused me at first, until I re-read the post title. I was like, wait, over half of TW3 users are on Galaxy, but the number is less than a quarter of all users? How does that work?!

Then I re-read and noticed that it was PC users and said, "Oh, consoles."
There could be more achievements, should you just fix them! /grin
Thats great news the more that use it the more people can see the benefit of drm free gaming.
