Again, I only watched season 1.
I had problems with the writing, directing, and production design, so...
... I decided to wait for the show to end before watching the entirety. But...
... one of the things I'd expected to hate -- Cavill as Geralt -- I didn't. While he was too muscle-bound, the wig looked good sometimes but bad most times, and it was Henry Cavill playing Geralt as opposed to Geralt portrayed by Henry Cavill, it seemed clear Cavill was 100% invested in the role. Ultimately he won me over.
But with him leaving...
... again I feel the show missed the mark by...
... not casting Mads Mikkelsen. He's a great actor who plays both good guys and evil exquisitely, has physicality as a former ballet dancer (and watch him in Valhalla Rising!), has THE VOICE, and would simply look badass as Geralt. In my mind's eye could have been something great.
Feel bad for Hemsworth. IMHO he's entering a show that ran out of gas before it could jump the shark.
