Why so cagey?

jamyskis: Why so cagey?
If I had a Nic-kel for every time I'd heard that one before, I'd have a national treasure by now.
This isn't exactly related, but Netflix is also making a Dark Crystal prequel series. If nothing else I have to applaud the variety and ambition of their projects. I sincerely hope at least one of those latest two comes out right. In a way I'm even more invested in the success of Dark Crystal than Witcher, even though I'm a much bigger fan of the latter. But I'd love to see the kind of Jim Henson style practical effects make a comeback. I'd be over the moon if we could get another season of The Storyteller.

I just watched that video and had to come here and search if it was already shared before. I love Netflix movies. Not a fan of Luke Cage and Iron Fist but I loved The Defenders, Daredevil, Stranger Things and 13 reasons why.

What's your casting choice? Especially for Geralt, Yennefer and Triss.

Nikolaj could indeed make a decent Geralt with his physics, face and voice.

He could work as an actor, but anybody that has seen Game of Thrones, will have to admit that the guy can't mock sword fight to save his life. There's a reason Bron makes fun of him, even now with close to half a season left until the show ends, while in the books Jamie is almost back at his peak after losing his hand.

It's not exactly big news, but I guess the series has a logo. And a map with some places like Kaer Morhen, Blaviken and Cintra marked.

Breja: Stranger Things was likewise boring and also just painfuly redundant and fake-y and uninspired rip-off of the great aventure sci-fi movies of the 80s.

Luned: I'm going to have to disagree on the "fake-y" part. I was actually 12 years old in 1983, living in a place about halfway between Indiana (the setting) and Georgia (where the series filmed), and what makes the series hit me so powerfully is that the entire backdrop of the town and the characters is so true to what I actually remember.

Even down to playing AD&D at lunch in the school cafeteria (instead of a friend's basement) and being thought weird. :)

I know people who closely resembled the adults and older teens in the story in characteristics during that time period. I can get why the series doesn't speak as strongly to you, since you don't have the same associations, but don't mistake the American small-town cultural backdrop as incorrect for the time period. It's the very rightness of that portrayal that amplifies the eerie stuff.
I have similar associations and think it is crap. More likely your nostalgia is clogging objective judgement.

Fuck. What about the Zelda series, flix?
So will this series be like Game of Thrones, but with more nudity and violence?

More than Game of Thrones?! Now that is a lot.

I hear people speak about Netflix in real life and they complain about how little one is allowed to watch here so most drop it rather quickly. Lots of region locked stuff. <censoring myself a bit here>

I hope they do it in Polish with subtitles for English.
In a shock twist it turns out the series will be animated, as a short teaser-episode was released!

Now I want a The Witcher series animated by Genndy Tartakovsky.
