It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I'm not too keen on the UI changes made for version 89 of Firefox, so I've not updated it yet. Now Netflix won't work.

Does anyone know of a legitimate reason why Netflix is so tied to the new version of Firefox?

See attachments for what happens when I try to use Netflix.

I use Netflix and Firefox 89, I have no issues. Clear your cache for the Netflix website?
It works just fine. Do you have the "play DRM content" checked?

(Also the UI changes in the newer versions of Firefox are contestablely minor. On the other hand, I've got my tabs on the bottom.)

I'm using 88. The instant 89 is issued, Netflix reports 88 no longer supported. Why? And is there a workaround without updating to 89?
88 still works with Netflix, Hulu, Plex and Kanopy.

I'm currently using Firefox 89 with the new Proton interface disabled, and it looks and behaves exactly like the previous version, including all the adjustments I've made with userchrome.css.

To disable the Proton interface, open the advanced settings by typing about:config in the address bar, and change the following parameters to false :

    browser.proton.enabled
    browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabExperience.enabled
    browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.logowordmark.alwaysVisible
    browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar

Thank you. Saved quite a headache.

Switch browser then I guess? Or you know, get used to the changes. It's not that bad once you fix it up a bit.

Thank you. Mozilla will probably remove this "feature" soon enough but in the meanwhile seems to be working.

Is this the place or the time to rant on how frustrated I was since they removed a simple checkbox to not update?

i suggest dont use firefox
it is outdated and probably compromised
I have been testing Brave lately, not as much as I would've wanted to, but from my observations it is a decent browser (with a few tweaks of course).
Mozilla has been on a slippery slope for years now and Firefox, as their product, is no exception. A shame though, I have been using Firefox for more than a decade (I never considered something like Chrome or IE/Edge as viable alternatives, for various reasons), but I think I will switch in the not-so-distant future. I cannot entirely say Brave will be my choice, but so far it is at the top of the list, as it checks several boxes (privacy, security, speed, clean interface). Still, it needs more work, fortunately there is time.
I used to like Mozilla and especially Firefox, not anymore. Time to move on.

As for your issue, I really don't know what to say as I'm not using Netflix, but (take it as a wild guess) could it have to do with DRM-related changes? Firefox is using a plugin called Widevine (developed by Google) in order to play videos from steaming platforms.

Some people are too set on their behavior to appreciate all the work that others put into their freeware ;-)

Thank you, saved me quite a bit of time, I have done such tweaks several times before but this was the fastest next after disabling the backspace = go back one site.

Prior to the complete rewrite of the browser a few years ago, I could kind of have agreed with you there, not so anymore.

There's still Seamonkey.

YOU ALL STILL HAVE SEAMONKEY!
