johnnygoging: I do remember him saying early "type exactly what I say. ps ax"

ZFR: But then what do you do if they respond by typing "start counterstrike"???

Would've been great if had just booted up the game, and Fillion was "shit, no, exit, where's the fucking exit command. Dammit I have to go through three prompts to quit this fucking thing!"
These are all so cringey
Hugh Jackman hacking

mechmouse: Most accurate, non-sarcastic portrayal of hacking or using technology for nefarious deeds in a film ever is "The Italian Job (1969)". In order to secure a quick get away they "hack" the computer controlling the traffic lights.

By "hack", they hired a programmer to make an altered version of the code, then tricked their way into the computer room and swapped out the tape reel.

In the nearly 50 years since, no one I'm aware of has ever come that close to a realistic portrayal of hacking.
Matrix Reloaded, Trinity uses a know (but patched by the time the movie came out, but fit with the timeline) SSH vulnerability to get into the power plant.

I had mentioned that one earlier, though I thought it was just the port scanner that was authentic.
Great one, this comment from there totally cracked me up:
"Funny thing is, they weren't actually being hacked. That's just what happens when you use Internet Explorer for more than an hour."

A recent study performed by British scientists has proven without doubt that randomly mashing your keyboard when being hacked lowers the hacker's HP and may actually result in a critical hit that could one shot him out of your computer! Just hit it with everything you've got and show that sucker you mean business!!!

They might have been more successful if they used this. Then each could smash keys on one half.

No love for this one?
It's amazing how your typing speed seems to be the most important thing when hacking in pretty much all of those... who knew all those years of Mavis Beacon typing would make me a 1337 hacker? ;)

Remember you also need a computer that beeps. Without beeping, no amount typing will help you.
