vicklemos: Care to elaborate a little more? I mean, crafting this days is something that has gone completely outta hand!

Bookwyrm627: As I understand it (granted, I haven't really followed the game in several years and numerous things have been added since then), it is all about building stuff. You look for materials, then you build stuff. There isn't (wasn't) any sort of quest line or direction, just "here's a world, enjoy!"

It isn't really my thing, because I like having quest lines and some sense of direction. But if you like just building whatever you can dream up, then Minecraft is pretty awesome. A friend of mine made a ziggurat, with steps, torches on each plateau level, the works. I've heard stories of what has been built, things like a scale model of the Enterprise, and the entire city of Westeros.

So my statement is meant literally: "Minecraft is literally what you make of it."
Since command blocks came in, there are maps with stories and quests that you can get from the community. And that's still pretty much vanilla.

I remember when I tried out the old demo, which was limited to 6 in-game days. I discovered on my second play through that you could craft things. A few things I just figured out logically, like an axe. Once I looked up a furnace, I thought "hey, I wonder if you can melt sand into glass". When it did exactly that, I knew I was hooked, big time.

Then there's redstone. I figured out an automatic melon farm and that kept me occupied (and fed) for a week or two of game time. There's so much to DO.
